In fact, I have used ELRM VTOL a bit before. It is still the best  spotter for LT. The only thing, that makes it useful.

Lt. Gauss Hawkmoth allows me to kill a Partisan, if I need to. Yes, it laks a punch, but I still usually stay at the top of the board in the early stages, when I use it. And I can't even describe how good it is for organised gameplay.

LRM VTROL can be very dangerous, but usually no skilled players are using it. I managed to kill 2 Parties that were shooting at me at the same time, while flying on it. No, I won't say, how it should be properly used. Problem is that this thing is the easiest to use of all VTOLs. That's why people fly on it.

RAC5 VTOL is great for TC mode. You know why...

What I really want to see is:

1) SSRM VTOL. Yes, streak SRM. Air streaks are really great! Probably, it can replace MRM VTOL. Same electronics, armour, 2*SSRM-4. Or GECM only, 2*SSRM-6 and 2 free tonnes. But having SRM VTOL would also be great.

2) UAC10 VTOL. Or AC-20 VTOL, if it will fit in the slot. Tonnage do allow such variant.

There used to be a variant a while back (v0.2?) armed with a UAC5 and 2x SSRM4. They were standard streaks, however, not air. It was still quite a fun variant to use though. Be nice to have something similar to it again.

I miss the AC hawkmoth. Was crap back then with how fickle the moth was when firing.

Would be great now that the machine is much more stable.

i think it would be sweet as hell to have a vtol with ATMs

it could  to some extent engage enemy aircraft, but can't drop altitude and brawl due to min range, nor can it balloon out of reach due to not having the range of LRMs or e-lrms.  and packs a wallop

That is why I look forward to the Donar. A VTOL that can use lasers and clantech.

So many interesting configs.
Prime:
CERLBL + 2x LRM5

A:
2xATM9 + GECM

B:
1xCERPPC + 4x CERSBL

C:
1xHLL + 4x CERSPL + armor and a few DHS

D:
3x HML + 2x CERMBL + tons of DHS

E:
1x CLPL + 2x DSSRM4
Never arm once what you could arm twice.

In Lyran Commonwealth, Atlas scouts you.

You really want a Heavy Laser on a VTOL? That seems like a recipe for disaster to me, especially if there's AA.
I want to put a bullet between the eyes of every panda that won't screw to save it's species. I want to open the dump valves on oil tankers and smother all those French beaches I'll never see. I want to breathe smoke. I want to destroy something beautiful.

Thanks guys for your interest to VTOL. I made my first post with configurations almost a year ago when the game balance was different from what we have now, so please disregard it.

Currently, I am just suggesting to add SRM VTOL for test (or both SRM and SSRM). As I remember such configurations had never been tried before. There was double AC5 variant with TAG for some time but RAC and LBX variants were still better at that time.

I am personally not good at sniping, so I prefer to choose supportive close-combat or recon roles. That is why I mostly played with RAC VTOL and C3 variants.
I feel that something was done with RAC damage. I run out of ammo very often before doing any significant damage. Probably close damage boost was removed or something but I do not feel RAC power anymore, and use LBX variant more often.

I'd use it. At least my proposed C variant.
Better range then the RAC5, lower engagement time (pop up from cover, PHWOOOOOOMPH and disappear again) and a damage that can't be ignored. Holding it on target is also just as hard as holding the RAC5 on target, and I've seen quite a few pilots that can pull it off.
Never arm once what you could arm twice.

Just put a NARC launcher on the MRM VTOL and you'll see how good it can be.  ;D

Oh gawd... please make it happen

Or TAG?
You release MRMs and then correct its route with TAG. Should work.

Energy weapons would be cool but they say it is against rules.

TAG is bugged so much... By the way, why do you want to point targets with TAG, if you can just point them with crosshair?

Yeah good luck keeping a stable TAG going in a VTOL. Especially if the enemy is spraying you with UAC2 or MGun fire.

With crosshair you need to lead MRMs all the time while with TAG you correct MRMs route from time to time if target moves which is more easy.

I am not aware about TAG bug.

I honestly don't think MRMs follow TAG.
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

I honestly don't think MRMs follow TAG.

They do, if the tagger is consistent and the MRMs have LOS to the tag in the first place, but the behavior is spotty at best. I usually ask people to refrain from tagging if I'm going heavy on the MRMs, or just run passive.
