And that's because FASA is retarded. I say inexplicable lack of heat, because I guarantee you that even the most fantastic bullshitter in the world couldn't come up with a single reason for them to generate less heat than an AC-10. It just contributes to it being the EZMode weapon that it is. It doesn't even have the minimum range it's supposed to have. Why do you think the Timberwolf B is such a rapetrain? Because it can alpha the fapp out of anything, and then dump a ton of extra damage on for free. This is why they were considered more cheese in tabletop than any clantech weapon was.

Especially considering that they aren't terribly expensive in MWLL, go ahead, give us the mechlab - let me recreate gausszilla. Especially considering that they seem to be Heavy weapons, not Assault. Theoretically a Timby could carry four of them.

yeah, the gausses probably ought to do more heat, but at the same time i can imagine so many angry BT fans screaming about "YOU GAVE THE GAUSS RIFLE HEAT!?  HOW DARE YOU!"

Maybe if it doesn't cause significant heat on firing (since it is technically only releasing a stored charge) perhaps it can cause some decent heat during the recycle time, when its charging up for the next shot.

Gaus on the other hand has the disadvantage of causing a large amount of damage when destroyed. Currently the only weapon that does it. I usually see Uller pilots trying to protect their gun, not only to lose a good chunk of their firepower but also to not get crippled by losing the gun :)

Well, one could argue that anyone who gets a Gauss shot off is, as they say, "doing it wrong".

One could also argue that the person shooting the gauss is simply "doing it rite".   ???

I ought to think that it should be faster, quite a bit faster, but that's not going to work for this game. So it's fine as it is.
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

I think gauss is pretty good how it is. If it was much worse it wouldn't be competitive with the PPC.

As for damage, I voted for "good how it is", but even a little less damage could be nice. Obviously that could come with its own problems though.

All in all, I think damage and weapon balance is feeling better than it ever has right now  :)
