I was just thinking a couple days ago now that the Summoner is in game, its theoretically possible to recreate the Mechwarrior 2 intro (which uses two Timberwolves and two Summoners) possibly on the Mirage map using the audio from the intro overlayed on top of the visuals of MWLL.  So who's got the mad video making skills to show off?

I would certainly like to supply my mad yeah right Piloting skillz for the non-first person 'Mechs  :)
However due to limited computing power I'm not sure if I should be the one running Fraps  :o

That video was my first mechwarrior experience, so it would be awesome to recreate it in MLL....I'll gladly sign up to help.

We need a map maker (mirage? Is pretty close though) someone to make a destructible skull...too steps on (could be left out I guess)

Actually... this brings to me the idea to create an own MWLL intro. Doesn't necessarily requiere incredible scripting skills. Just show off some units in awesome poses (Timby in sunset etc., BAs running along some big mechs, Aeros flying in formation). Clan and IS units gather. Meet each other at a nice location (that Frostbite settlement for example) and turn it into a slaughterhouse. In the end, a lonely BA looks at the remains of his unit (and in the last moment you see another hidden BA aiming at him :D). Cut. Logo.

Okay, actually that scene has become somewhat script-requiering :P . But still, it'd be nice to do that. Especially since some of the showing off can happen in Sandbox. In Sandbox,  AI-scripts can be applied onto assets (but only BA & vehicles, IIRC) to let them pose. Also, the visuals can be enhanced by using graphical filters. I'd like to refer to this thread, showing what potential there is: http://forum.mechlivinglegends.net/index.php/topic,8346.0.html. Of course, at least those filters can be added to the Mechwarrior 2-Remake, too.

I had an idea about this before a while ago, before the Summoner was in. I thought it we could have done an IS version, using the Thanatos as Summoners and Warhammers as Timberwolves. I guess that idea wouldn't roll well here.

Oh, and don't forget the wasted legged Vulture at 0:20.

doesn't have to be exact, the only real requirements are the Timberwolf with machine guns and Summoner with a big gun, could easily be UAC20 or LBX20 to the face of the Timberwolf at the end

To me it appeared that the Timberwolf was armed with PPCs, Which we do have but have small lasers instead of Mguns, so it's a no - go there.

I've compiled a little shopping list to make this happen:

  • Desert map with big rock formations, e.g. Mirage
  • 1 Timberwolf with a nearly destroyed CT to be able to be 1 shotted at the end
  • 1 Timberwolf with a nearly destroyed leg to make it limp, maybe with a destroyed BT to make it on fire
  • 1 Summoner with a nearly destroyed CT, LT and RT in order to be 1 shotted and allow a little aiming deviation by the attacker
  • 1 Summoner with a big ass gun
  • 1 player with FRAPS to film first person shots in the Timberwolf
  • 1 player with FRAPS to film external shots
  • 3 players to pilot all other 'mechs
  • 1 legged Mad Dog that makes a brief appearance near the start

You guys sure those are MGs? They seem to have a bit to much recoil for that. (watch how much the timbys arms shake when he fires)
With CBT build rules you can create a Timberwolf that has 2x CERPPC 2xCUAC2 2xCLRM5 and one CERSBL, which would be more fitting, but unfortunally you can get a good look at the launchers, and those are LRM20s  :(

unfortunally you can get a good look at the launchers, and those are LRM20s  :(

 Don't be misguided by the number of missile ports. Having 20 of them doesn't suppose to mean that it's LRM20, at least not for sure. As Launching and reload mechanics are not explicitly described as "one port for missile launched in a salvo", we can safely assume that it's the LRM5 that launch a salvo from 5 tubes at a time and then reloads them for 3 turns while launching missiles from other tubes that are already loaded. With that in mind, your loadout would be quite fitting.

Yes, I'm pretty sure those were MGs. They do the same damage as AC2s after all, so the recol isn't even overly much.
