Your MWLL Soundtrack
« on: February 07, 2011, 09:59:50 AM »
Post a few samples from the music you mech to.

Mine's very different from the metal spam you may see a lot, and a lot more Post Rock and such. Less heart pumping action and more relaxing whilst watching big stuff explode.

Explosions in the Sky - Birth and Death of the Day
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvm1AE1b2n8 - Single most badass entrance ever, calms down and gets more exciting around 3:50

Explosions in the Sky - Catastrophe and the Cure
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeaXvVLuSJw pretty much the same as the above.

This will Destroy You - Quiet
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqvmCiNMpCU - Serene as fapp. Not joking. good for Kagoshima.

This will Destroy You - The World is Our _____
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYsbZbAKnAg&feature=related - Read the above.

God is an Astronaut - Shores of Orion
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvCXMZgl_Ro - probably the most metallic thing on the playlist.

Plus the Mechwarrior 2 Soundtrack and I am set.
12th Vegan Rangers - Missile spam is the best kind of spam!

Silence :]

I find music to be an immense distraction in any multiplayer game. Doesn't help me play whatsoever, especially if it has a catchy beat and you catch yourself subconsciously timing your movements to it.

No thanks, the only music I need is the echoing screams of stravags.

Hehe, actually that is exactly what I listen to when I play as well. Gotta love those bands.

Somtimes though I prefer some heavier Post stuff such as:

Long Distance Calling:

If These Trees Could Talk:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3yEvKHhwqw

or something more atmospherical such as:

Nice.

I've got a few Coneria remixes with some of the tunes from MW2:Mercs as well as Final Destination from SSB.

I ususally listen to the trance radio at http://www.di.fm (I have a premium membership there, which basically jsut means commercial free and CD quality), which is also the music I enjoy mapping to.

Though post-rock is a good idea too. It's awesome to see you liking God is an Astronaut, they are an incredible band. Would be pretty awesome music to play MWLL to.

On a side note, once I get time to help out again I'd like to start setting up maps with some proper music nodes for players who like to play with the in-game music. I think it would be pretty cool to start a match and have some 3-5 min long track play when you first roll out, and one that plays at the final 5 minutes of the game or when a team runs out of tickets.

EDIT: If we could liscense music for the mod and had money to throw away, I'd always imagine Frank Klepacki's (composer of C&C music) Rocktronic album being awesome to mech to :D :

Depends on what I'm doing, but i have every Nine Inch Nails song ever made, as well as a massive collection of 311, Hybrid, Juno Reactor, Junkie XL, Benny Benassi... You get the idea. If I'm playing and have music going it'll be turned down low so I can hear TS better, but unlike for some people it's not in any way a distraction.

Yes, I am an asshole, I know this.
It is intentional, though usually not too horribly personal.

Unless you are a moron.

i mostly listen to internet radio because I don't have any mp3 since it's illegal to download good stuff.

Chronix (Heavy metal rock etc)
Chromanova (psy trane)
and some top 100 radio that play the popular songs

My favorite radio station was p h i l o s o m a t i k a but it doesn't exist anymore.

I'm not a metalhead normally (dance/trance/house usually on the playlist), but MWLL (as any 'Mech game) calls for a soundtrack full of Teräsbetoni.

For those not familiar with Finnish metal scene (let alone fluent in Finnish), here is their breakthrough hit subtitled in plain English:

Also, here's one for any Hell's Horses players around:
