5870 crossfire work with this mod ?

the only reason i ask is i purchased a second 5870 for this mod to crossfire but i have noticed no performance increase at all. they are setup in crossfire mode in CCC and 3d mark vantage makes full use of them but whenever im playing mwll my primary card is going full bore and my second card is trotting along at 175mhz core speed and 500 mhz memory. is there something i need to do or setup on CCC or MWLL for it to work ?

saphire 5870 1gb
12gb DDR3 1600

also im running the 10.12 drivers

Make sure you have r_MultiGPU=2 enabled.

i enabled just now and tested it with no change at all. the second card is still running at like 175mhz core and 500 mhz memory.

I dunno then, try reseating your cards and upgrade your drivers. Also make sure the crossfire bridge hasnt come disconnected from the 2 cards. Other then that, google is your friend.

ok so i found out it was because i was running in windowed mode. but now that i run fullscreen it does hit its stock speed but still the activity is only running at like 50% and seems to cause stuttering because of it now i just need to find a way to fix that now.

Make sure you have r_MultiGPU=2 enabled.

I just added that to autoexec.cfg and dropped it in Wars and Warhead main folders.  Now, it runs much better. Basically what I've been posting half a dozen threads for.

I run 2 1gig ATI 5770's in crossfire x mode with no problems and my settings are set to max, you should not have any problem that I would know of.

Hey Millpoint, what are you using to monitor your second card's activity?

gpu-z and CCC. yeah i would think it should run no problem but i still have some bad stuttering issues that act every so often like when i zoom in and shoot fairly quickly sometimes.

i think much of the stuttering is usually due to having large amounts of players (30+), or the physics.  If you haven't already you may want to add sys_physics_CPU=1 to your autoexec.cfg since you have a multicore processor.  Otherwise try playing on servers with about 24 or fewer people and see what you get there.   That probably won't do anything for the zoom stutter but still good anyway.

ok so i came up with some interesting stuff. after doing a lot of research on the internet i found that hyper threading on the processor can sometimes cause the stuttering so i disabled it and my stuttering problem all went away.

so disabling hyper threading on my i7-920 stopped all stuttering.

Hyperthreading can cause this problem in games, generally if the CPU is heavily Oced. But I don't have this problem when hyperthreading is enabled, and even though I don't yet use anything that uses 8threads I still rather have it on.
