Achtung, Panzer!
« on: February 12, 2011, 07:44:16 AM »
There's a fave mechs, ASF, VTOL and BA thread but I don't see one for any tanks  8)

I really like how MWLL has implemented tanks, compared to mechs they are less maneuverable and have less weapon options. But in return they can hide behind more things, mount heavier weapons and have more armor. So as long as you can control the engagement range, tanks do very well. I jsut love using the Oro-C or the Demolisher-LBX to take off the legs of enemy mechs or to blast out their cockpits. What's even better is that with passive radar running and good use of terrain they'll never see you coming  ;)

Though I do think the Oro could do with more armor...

That cheap Oro with LBX20, LBX10, Flamer is great when you're at the 55k rank.  I'm not sure if it's that their armor is weak so much as it being a bit easier to focus your fire on the turret of a tank.  Maybe it's just me but I far more often die in a tank with my side armor almost full and the turret gone, than I do from getting my CT cored in a mech.  Some of the tanks won't turn while reversing (why?) so that further hampers their maneuverability when you're talking about a Demolisher vs Assault mech slugfest.  I hate how you have to brake with X or let yourself stop moving in reverse before you can turn. :o

Full agreement Psy', the Oro-C is a brutal machine in the first part of the game as it can often 2 shot kill any mech with either CT or leg shots. The flamers are also good for killing BA and finishing off mechs.

3 ERPPC Morrigu.
Put that brick down somewhere with a clear view out to 800m and fry anything that comes along. 8)

Btw, has anyone noticed that people like to shoot the turrets again?

You can not turn the turret away. Shooting anything else, specially from range, is just not economical.

Sweet love to the Demo B...

I feel that tank turrets are too weak now.  It is good that they were nerfed, particularly the demolisher, but I think it was a bit too much.

I almost got Khan rank in the game I just had 90% playing tanks. But the match ended because of the enemy running out of tickets :(

Awesome tread!
The tanks do not get enough love... except hate from crying mechwarriors :P
I started to love these buggers since 0.2. I like their low profile and the ability to sneak around the opponents, and they pack a good punch.
The tanks give a little "extra" to the battlefield.

Thanks devs for the tanks!

Harasser. 6 flamers. Kill everything with fire.

Until you run out of coolant and then suicides due to overheating :-\

They really should fix the amount of self-inflicted heat from using those 6 flamers at the same time.

I never overheat-suicide in it. Occasionally (after like 2 minutes of continuous use) I need to let off some, but when that happens I just find a nice mountain and drive straight up a sheer cliff face, to cool off on the top.
