The 64bit exe doesn't run through steam

Indeed. I have no idea how F22-Sama would have done this.

There is two folders, each holds the different versions.

For 32Bits: ...Crysis Wars\Bin32\Crysis.exe"-mod MWLL

For 64bits: ...Crysis Wars\Bin64\Crysis.exe"-mod MWLL

If you are using the Steam version, you will need to add it as a non-Steam game shortcut for the 64bits, unless there is other ways that I do not know. Not that it good to play MechWarrior: Living Legends, only to call it Crysis Wars.

Ah ok, then it's easy enough. I didn't know the Steam overlay works with any non-Steam game as well.

Cool I get it now, thanks for that. I'll try the 64bit non-steam game path...see if the 64bit exe is any better than running it 32bit. I could also toy with dx9 / dx10 too.

Nice to have closure, thanks.

For some strange reason, my game doesn't like launching in 64/DX9 mode but 32/DX9 works fine... It launches with the normal Crysis loading screen instead.

...Bin64\Crysis.exe"-dx9 -mod MWLL > Launches normal Wars in DX9
...Bin64\Crysis.exe"-mod MWLL -dx9 > Launches MWLL in DX10
It seems to ignore the second parameter.

Bin32\Crysis.exe"-dx9 -mod MWLL or Bin32\Crysis.exe"-mod MWLL -dx9 works fine...

OK I hear people are able to switch between 32 bit & 64 bit, (also dx9 and dx10)

I have forced mine to dx9 and got it to run with the steam overlay by right click, properties of Crysis Wars. Then in the 'Launch Options' button have typed the following (without quotes) "-dx9 -mod MWLL".

I assume if I wanted to force dx10 I would type "-dx10 -mod MWLL"

What would I have to type to run the 64bit version of Crysis wars. Would it be "-dx9 -mod MWLL -x64" or is it "-dx9 -mod MWLL -64bit" or could it be "-dx9 -mod MWLL -64" or "-dx9 -mod MWLL -force64" ?

I assume there is a switch to select the 64bit exe (which I have as I have a whole bin64 folder in the crysis wars directory in steam) - because in the MWLL launch there is the option "Use 64 bit version" which I had ticked when running through the launcher. I now would like to know how to acheive the same thing through an exe switch (e.g -64bit).

So if someone could answer with something like
" Just type "-64bit" and it will then run the 64bit exe, that would be cool.

Thanks,
Mildman
on the MWLL launcher, don't you have the "force DX9 mode" and "use 64 bit" checkboxes you can just click before hitting "launch MWLL"?
I'm pretty sure you can just use those (if DX9 mode is off, then it's DX10, and if use 64 bit is off, then it's 32)

Bin32\Crysis.exe"-dx9 -mod MWLL or Bin32\Crysis.exe"-mod MWLL -dx9 works fine...

Just tooled around with this a little bit myself and for some reason it seems to not be parsing spaces in the launch options correctly, such that:
Quote
...Bin64/Crysis.exe"-mod MWLL
will correctly launch living legends, but
Quote
...Bin64/Crysis.exe" -mod MWLL
will just launch vanilla crysis wars instead (note the space between the " and the -). So that probably has something to do with why it's not seeing the second parameter.

actually i managed to launch it through steam but no overlay was in sight

I can now run the 64bit version by following these instructions, with a working steam overlay. I added the 64bit exe as a 'non steam game' added the switch and all good. (+1 Karma by the way)

How do I tell if I am running the DX9 or DX10 version easily?

...lol answered own question, alt tabbing back into MWLL saw in the title it's says Crysis Wars DX10.

Next question...I assume when it's DX9 it's just called Crysis Wars?

Thanks for that. Can confirm that in 32bit mode (steam default) I can force DX9 via Launch Option with the overlay working

In 64bit mode (adding a non steam game) it is DX10 and 64bit - cannot force DX9.

That's a pretty good solution though - will try 64bit...if any instability will revert to the 32bit DX9.

Appreciate all the help on this one.

Steam just patched to supposedly better support "64 bit game starting with - options" and 64 bit overlay support improvements.

It now seems to work with multiple options, so -mod MWLL -dx9 works.

I had thought the overlay was working before but I cant get it to now. But at least I'm advertising to people I'm playing.

Stumbled across this thread again today - that's good news that 64 bit DX9 works with steam overlay now.

I just tested it - Added a non steam game, (the Crysis.exe for the 64bit folder) - I then changed it's name to Mechwarrior: Living Legends, and it's icon to the MWLL launcher icon.

Added the -mod MWLL -dx9 switches after the location of the exe in the Properties of the game in steam (as it's a non steam game you can't put the switches in the 'launch options' screen.

Now all works, when I run the game my steam friends see - 'Mildman is playing Mechwarrior: Living Legends" and it runs fine 64bit with DX9.

Nice job in updating us on a steam update .... if that makes any sense.
