Profit maximization. Asshole publisher charge each region the highest price people are still willing to pay. Even content distribution platforms like Steam, which are completely separated from physical goods, do it.
There's a name for that, but I forgot it.

Well, apparently australians have higher standards of living or something. So everything is much more expensive...

Just as expensive here.... here being the small rock off the coast of Australia. You can knock $10 off the price of nearly any game by not buying it from EB

Thief gameplay + Doom3 engine = The Dark Mod

Cod is going to be meeting up with Guitar Hero real soon :P

It's funny because I like both games (solely because I'm really good at them, actual price to quality ratio is generally shit, but I like to win ::)) but I won't mind seeing them go for something more fresh and worth my cash, like Skyrim (an RPG that doesn't look or play like shit?) or BRINK

Sell the same thing to people 10 times and even total salad brains will catch on eventually

Activision has quickly gone from one of my favorite producers (MW2, Heavy Gear), to my most hated.  I'm seriously starting to like EA more than them now.  Just look at this:

# Call of Duty (2004) Java ME, Windows
# Call of Duty 2 (2005) Java ME, Macintosh, Windows, Xbox 360
# Call of Duty 2: Big Red One (2005) GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox
# Call of Duty 3 (2006) PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360
# Call of Duty: Finest Hour (2004) GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox
# Call of Duty: Roads to Victory (2007) PlayStation Portable
# Call of Duty: United Offensive (2004) Windows
# Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007) Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows, Wii
# Call of Duty: World at War (2008) Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3,
# Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010) Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii (Unknown Release Date, possibally same as the other consoles release date), Nintendo DS
# Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

Yes, that's 11 CoD games in 7 years.
