It seems to me that all you want is bf2, well then go play bf2.
Well that's kind of an odd way of looking at it. Should he keep playing BF2 long after games with much nicer graphics and new features come onto the market? How long does that logic hold? 10 years? 15? 20? Will he be rocking out on Karkand by himself when he's 80 yo?
We all love to see updates and improvements to the games we already love.
The only thing I loved about BF2 compared to BF1942 was the commander feature and the improved graphics. In all other ways it was inferior or equal to its predacessor IMO. For my own part I wanted to see BF1942 return in all its glory with improved graphics, the commander feature, and some new innovations. I'm disappointed in the little I've heard so far about BF3, but I'm not done listening.
As far as people not listening to the commander, while certainly many people didn't, the fact is that it did the best job I have
ever seen in organizing pubbies. It worked. Not all the time, it wasn't perfect, but it worked.
I'm sure they'll keep the successful squad system in place so that will at least help to retain some organization.
