BF3 sux
« on: February 19, 2011, 01:08:27 PM »
No commander = not BF3

Spawning on any squad member and not just the leader = cluster *love

Fake and arbitrary ranking system = Welcome to the SciFi channel

Only 4 classes = Well actually this one is pretty good and realistic. After all, I want the same guy having to hump the heavy MG to be the same guy to drag my wounded ass out of combat right? Also, it only makes since that every member of the Army corp of Eng all carry around a rocket launcher and 5 rockets, or maybe just land mines every where they go. Also, because snipers are close rang combatants they should have C4. Also, well you get the point

How is this not just BC3? And why at this point should i expect it to have more than the pathetic number of maps that BC2 has? If i wanted to play BC2  or CoDxxx i would play those games instead. Yes, at one point I was very much looking forward to this game, not so much any more. I might be headed to GDC in a week, if i go ill get to see the game in action on March 1st. I will know by then if the game is worth wasting any more of my time over.

Last I heard, all the info on BF3 was rumor. Is there something concrete now? Do you have a link? When last I did an internet search it was only rumored to take place in a modern setting...which I considered disappointing. I wanted BF3 to be BF1942 redone in all its glory. Of course, that golden age of multi-player game making has probably passed away for good. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

These Bad Company games are a shadow of the epic nature of the first BF game. Titanic maps, every asset you can think of from multi-player bombers, Battleships, and Destroyers, submarines, dogfighters and bombers. BC still has a tank and a jeep I think...on tiny maps.

The one innovation came with BF2...the commander position. You're telling me that's going away? This doesn't sound good.

Commander just pissed me off in BF2. ENEMY SNIPER SPOTTED ENEMY SNIPER SPOTTED ENEMY SNIPER SPOTTED ARTILLERY AT YOUR LOCATION ENEMY INFANTRY SPOTTED ENEMY INFANTRY SPOTTED UAV ONLINE ENEMY INFANTRY SPOTTED. I don't you need calling out every single fapping enemy when there's a UAV online, stop.

Battlefield 2142 had only 4 classes. Medics were the main class with an assault rifle, snipers had C4 and claymores, Supports had machine guns and ammo, and the Engineer had a rocket launcher and the repair tools.

That was annoying but it was also useful. The commander who is constantly spott enemy targets that were

A) in threatening distance to teammates and objectives

and

 B) were not in the envelope of a UAV

...was doing his job and giving his team an advantage. I'd prefer that to the fighting commander who used the position as his own personal eye in the sky and fire support as he went rambo. Of course, you did have those spotting commanders who would spot enemies who weren't even relevant, already in the UAV, or spot the same guy 15 times...that did get old...

The lack of classes doesn't really bother me. Having a dozen different kits didn't add anything to the game for me. You do need a certain number, but after that it becomes unnecessary.

There was an entire expose on it in some game mag. The scans can all be found on line. They have also tweed some info, stupid if you ask me but thats how they did it. Its all part of a media blitz leading up to their reveal on March 1st. The beta will likely be announced and at the very least their trailer will be premiered. Im hoping for some actual in game play thru with the devs.

You haven't even seen any game play footage how can you say it will suck? At least wait until demo or at least a game play footage is out.

Commander where anyoing mostly and almost no one followed there order

It seems to me that all you want is bf2, well then go play bf2.

And there is conflicting information on ur website on one part it says no comments on commander and later it says commander class remove but until I see a statement from dice or ea them self I will not trust ur under ground website

Well that's kind of an odd way of looking at it. Should he keep playing BF2 long after games with much nicer graphics and new features come onto the market? How long does that logic hold? 10 years? 15? 20? Will he be rocking out on Karkand by himself when he's 80 yo?

We all love to see updates and improvements to the games we already love.

The only thing I loved about BF2 compared to BF1942 was the commander feature and the improved graphics. In all other ways it was inferior or equal to its predacessor IMO. For my own part I wanted to see BF1942 return in all its glory with improved graphics, the commander feature, and some new innovations. I'm disappointed in the little I've heard so far about BF3, but I'm not done listening.

As far as people not listening to the commander, while certainly many people didn't, the fact is that it did the best job I have ever seen in organizing pubbies. It worked. Not all the time, it wasn't perfect, but it worked.

I'm sure they'll keep the successful squad system in place so that will at least help to retain some organization.

BF2 sucked. Too rigid and clunky in comparison to 1942's physics.
BC2 had 1942's Physics, plus destructible shit, but lacked scale and vehicular variety.
BF3 better be badass, because I'm going to waste my money on it regardless.

Battlefield was never about the commander, just fapping around with military vehicles on huge maps with loads of players.

Bf3 should be worth buying, if only for the hopeful project reality mod release on it.

Yeah sorry about that what I mean is I don't want a remake of bf2 with shiny graphics and the commander thing I don't really care

Its about team work. Im sick and tired of idiot RnG kinds of games just like BC2 is. BF2 was about team and it actually worked. If you just joined some random pub it might not matter but when your playing with you know know it does.

Game Informer is not an underground website, its a print issue monthly publication, and those are the words of the BF3 lead dev. He didnt explicitly say that BF3 will never have a commander. He said something along the lines of they could have implemented it if they wanted to. I take that to mean they COULD HAVE.

personally, i am not going to miss the commander position, its always been my belief that the game would be better if you put that power into the hands of the squad leaders, instead of making them the middlemen.  All the fun leadership experiences i've had in BF2 had to do with working inside of squads and getting orders from my squad leaders.  Meanwhile the commanders spent every possible moment simply dropping artillery, then doing scans and sweeps to find out where they could drop the next artillery.  Then saving the supply boxes to fix the commander assets that got destroyed by the enemy spec ops players, rinse and repeat.

Wherever mechs are needed, I am there
