All the physical servers I run are dedicated, as in they are 99% dedicated to running game servers. There are some auxillary services running as well, like the game server control panel, but they are there to support the game servers in the end. I've been running game servers on dedicated servers since 2001.
Other game servers from other customers are running and the server is setup to handle this type of load accordingly. The specs of the server (below) are setup to minimize any kind of resource contention that multiple game servers would potentially create.
Since I have multiple physical servers across the US and EU their specs differ slightly, but the official MWLL server in Chicago is running on a dual processor Xeon E5520 with HyperThreading (16 threads in total) with 12GB of memory on a 1000Mbit/sec backbone. All my servers run redundant hard drives in a RAID 1 setup and are monitored on a daily basis as they are located in datacenters with dedicated staff (some of them providing 100% network uptime guarantees).
