Thats just it though, I really don't want to play arcadey halflife anymore.

I got into halflife because i found the setting really interesting.  and at the time the games came out, that sort of gameplay was the standard.

But as time wears on, it feels like more and more of the gameplay elements feel dated, but not in a good way.  and for the record, fapp NO to regenerating health.  There's more types of health systems than just jelly screened health regen and foot absorbed medpacks.  For instance having inventory held medpacks that regen you when used.  Or location based health damage/restoration.  Or systems involving bleedout and bleedout prevention.  Or systems that allow for self badaging, but that it requires time and energy to do.
How about grabbing that mod and trying it out then???

I mean seriously I wouldn't want the Gameplay to change in any way from the previous HL titles, because for me that would totaly break it!
I've gotten used to it, and the gameplay is just as important to that game as the story...
It may be an outdated Gameplaymechanic, but I couldn't imagine HL any other way...
If at first you don't succeed try again, and if you don't try again, you'll be hit in the face with a shovel!

Actually, I'm surprised you didn't list this as one of your beefs, because this is one thing about HL2 that always bugged me.

Why did they reuse sounds?

With the large majority of HL2's sounds being high quality, every now and then you hear someone type on a keypad, or walk across some metal rafters, and then you get the reused HL1 sound effect that sounds horribly out of place.

Granted, I got used to it after awhile, but for all the pros of Half-Life 2, this one should have been an area to see more effort, especially with the amazing sound mixing of the game.

/fail

The reused sounds in HL are one of the most important aspects of the games strict continuity. And no, there not just ripped from HL, they are retooled higher quality versions of the same sounds.

Do you have a link to that download?  It sounds like a fun mod to try out while I'm moving in a week.
