Battle Armor is gonna have a field day with this thing!! :)

Edit: but look at all that space they have to 'run' around on if they get up top.

BA Battleboat???

I like how the weapons are on the same level as the cockpit, how the cockpit is the highest point, and how heavily armored it looks. Not flimsy or artistic (often one in the same), but functional.

The Hollander has an off-center cockpit.

Flip-side of this is the severely limited view area for the pilot and the off-center cockpit (a first for the game, should be interesting).

This is pure Steiner excess taken into the 3067 era, and the dual iHGauss...going to be something for all of us to fear! *wonders just how many clan 'mechs it can core in one alpha*

Yeah, got to say congrats to Defender, an excellent model with lots of chatacter (and better I think than the old model IMHO).

Sure it felt different but so did my wife after the kids were born. A little loose but it still gets me off every time. -- Suspect

I've been eagerly awaiting this monster since I found out it was going to be in.  With the HGR being the engine of destruction it is in LL, I think it'll stand a chance of being easily my favorite assault 'mech on the field.  I'm looking forward to it, big time.
I will personally hunt you down and poptart your leg while your back is turned and you're in your base.

I. LOVE. YOU. GUYS.

Seriousely, Steiner tech at its finest.  ;D
*SNIP*

Don't say this much to a Lyran Dog (not offensive, check your Avatar bro  ;D) But yeah, this is the best example of Steiner design philosophy, and if 1 Fafnir doesn't win you the war then you need more Fafnirs!.....They even make good scout 'mechs, using textbook Steiner tactics  :o ::) :D

Did anyone notice Leer referred to those arm pods as Assault pods....so technically this machine could be built to be a Devastator http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Devastator
or Annihilator http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Annihilator (minus 1 medium pulse laser slot) as well as a half dozen other favourite IS Assault designs!...now that is interesting!  8)

@Talon ( ;D) Yeah, I had forgot about the Hollander II (I never use it...just not a favourite) and the Summoner/Thor (again not something I like to ride much) with their off-center cockpits, and I never noticed much difference whe pioting them, so I accept the points made about that aspect of things, my bad.

stuff

Any idea how the iHG will perform yet? I'm just worried that full HG damage out to 700 metres, X 2 cause there's two of them, will mean that the fafnir can alpha the legs off heavies from well over half a click away or something ridiculous like that.

UAC20 variant will be fun though. You should totally put a LPL in each arm to round it out  :)

The basic premise of the iHG, at least according to Sarna (which we will modify accordingly to fit our game rules), is that it weighs more than the regular Heavy Gauss, does a bit less damage, but extends to the full range of a regular HG. This is all up in the air right now, but that's the idea we have thus far for how we perceive it to function and balance in accordance to the rest of the weapons.

Didn't notice this, I only looked at the angled perspective shots. But on the flip-flip-side of this, you probably won't be cockpitted any time soon!

Nice looking Mech, Defender.

Interesting that it will have custom leg anims, given how challenging those have been to create.

Any thoughts of apply those new anims to existing chassis?    Or will they be so Fafnir-specific that they wouldn't work with other chassis?

I'm still debating the exact specifics of the iHGauss in-game, i'll likely have another few discussions with Defender, Toth, and Kingleer about it.

On another note, this thing looks very well armored, and i'm going to make sure there's a reason for that.  8)

This model is really beautiful, I am looking forward to the alternate variants too, a 2xGR+2xERPPC would be formidable.

Imagine it in combo with an Atlas providing targets and AMS cover.
