lol can't believe someone brought up 3d (as in 3d glasses shit) in a graphics card conversation.  Everyone say along with me ... GIMMICK.

You obviously have never seen 3d over triple screen using nvidia. Makes you cum in your pants.

no. it's not. not even close.
it's a card with TWO GPU's again.
which is EXACTLY what i am trying to get rid of . .
as for 3D? fapp dat shit. As long as it does not work better, especially WITHOUT GLASSES BETTER, it is not for me . .

Well, i'll have to try and see if i can dig up some comparsion benchmarks between the 580 horribly oced and the 580 horribly overramed . .

I have and it's still prohibitively expensive and for the extra wow factor you get it's a waste of time effort and money.  3d is a way to garner more cash from you, it does little to nothing on most games and even those geared towards it I would say it's 'meh' at best.  The install base for 3d is sub 2% on pcs and even less for Tv's so it's a waste of time making games that cater to it right now even less than making games catering to DX11.

As for the card, I wouldn't buy ATI ever again after my last 3 ATI cards all failing within the first 3 months (all different models and manufacturers), so basically they can take a long walk off a short cliff.

Although in this benchmark review the NVIDIA GTX 590 is not included, the AMD/ATI HD6990 shows good FPS performance. But notice how the GTX 580 SLI rocks at the expense of additional cost and electrical power.

And Again.
I don't want crossfire or SLI
i want ONE SINGLE GPU.
and i want the single STRONGEST GPU.
GTX590 and GTX580SLI and AMD5990 and 6990 and 5870 Crossfire are ALL 2 GPU's, not a single GPU.

AMD5990?

Oh and I don't give a damn what you want. I am just pointing out test results on newly emerging technology relating to online PC video gaming.

i think i'd rather crossfire two single cards instead, i've read a few different places that two single cards usually perform a little better

From my experience (2 x 5870 w/2gb each, Catalyst 11.3, 890FX chipset), it depends on the game you are playing.  Sometimes, with Crossfire disabled, it makes almost no difference; with others, it is the difference between medium and topped out settings.

Two single cards is never a better idea over one single card. No matter the cost or perfromance one card is always going to be better. The only reason I have SLI is for triplescreen , I would never go SLI ever again if I didn't have to.

I will never actually buy 3d, becuase I'd have to rebuy so much crap for it, it's not worth it. But that doesn't mean it isn't cool. If it just fell into my lap (Or yours) I bet you would still be saying HELL YEAH, even if you didn't use it all the time.

@Stahlseele : The fastest single GPU on the market is the GTX580 OCed. The fastest duel GPU, is two GTX580 in SLI oced. Nothing else can beat that, not even ATI with their duel gpu's on one card.

Buy a GTX580 :D

Yes, it's GOING to be a 580.
THAT much i have established ^^
Multi-GPU-Systems are, realistically, good only for highly paralelized computing.
which has NOTHING to do with gaming anymore at all.

This. I wont say ill never buy nvidia again, but its really put me off considering buying one of their cards. Teey could release a platinum plated card that can calculate the equation of life the universe and everything and display it in glorious 3d, shit rainbows and transform into a mecha, and id still think twice about buying it.

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?
