Earth Siege 2 was a good game, but the reasons MW2 seemed vastly superior (for me at least):

1. Smooth animation.  ES2 just felt really clumsy.  MW2 was very smooth, and responding well to inputs.

2. Attention to detail.  Let's face it, not even games today show the same effort to pay attention to detail as MW2 had.  When you destroyed enemy mechs in a vacuum, there was no fire, they just broke apart.  Eject and you died.  You could identify, by name, nearly every enemy mech pilot, or in Clan Wolf's 3rd mission, Blade Splint, identifying many of the buildings revealed a lot of easter eggs.

3. Immersion.  I don't know the backstory of ES2, and they don't cover it very well throughout the game.  MW2 on the other hand, fully immersed you in the universe.  New players, like me, were incredibly confused about the weird things the trainer was saying, and I looked into the clan hall projector for information.  Holy crap!  I read EVERYTHING.  History, layouts, culture, language, etc.  The situation briefs and debriefs also helped immerse you in the universe, by letting you know the status of the war.

Just FYI, Firefall is lead by the lead designer from T1 and T2, where as this is just the IP owner.  I saw that Tribe Ascend also coming out for xbox and have dropped my expectations even further.

If it's not the entire Dynamix crew (please) don't even mention it. Firefall doesn't look a shit like a Dynamix game, probably because it only has a lead designer from them.

(I mention Dynamix because you mentioned Lead Designer, so hence I did not mention Tribes or Starsiege)
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

I wouldn't care it doesn't "look" like tribes as long as it PLAYED like tribes.

.... 2011 it will not look like tribes... maybe in a very core base sense of weapons, maybe a few factions... otherwise... mind you who knows.

One thing I wish they did in Tribes 2 was restrict the Spinfusor to Medium and Assault. That would have given the mediums a more active combat role.

How so? It was the only weapon used other then a missile launcher vs vehicles and the fusion mortar by Assaults. A medium could not compete against a light with a spinfusor at all.

Are you serious? what weapon would have light used if it was not a Spinfusor? I know that medium didn't get much love but it was able to do almost everything a light can with more armor and can deploy stuff.

The Spinfusor is the staple weapon of tribes and is very reliable for almost anything if you can lead your target properly. You could also disc-jump with it was very useful for chasers, cappers and heavy doing a quick route.

I don't see how people could have chased a capper grabbing at 200 with no disc-jump.

Mediums where not that bad actually I played duel mod a lot and sometime would go medium and it was pretty powerful but not optimal. It was all about energy saving in medium when you duel.

The only problem with light and a weapon was a the shocklance wich could kill a heavy in 1 hit from the back and it was not that hard to do, I could fly over a heavy turn 180 quickly and shock lance him in the back just like that. Or just wait where a lot of heavy are doing route hide somewhere wait for one jump out and kill in one shot. I dislike one shot weapons in multiplayer

Blaster, Plasma Rifle, and Chaingun could be used.

As for catching someone.. I did just fine without using the disc jump.

The blaster and plasma rifle are only useful in very limited situations (close range combat for plasma and blaster, or sniping stationary enemies with the blaster), and the Chaingun is too inaccurate to deal constant damage at range.

No spinfusors for the light armor would be like no battlemechs in battletech  :P
