I'm back to haunt the skies, well almost.
« on: March 17, 2011, 12:13:31 AM »

Hey there, I was taking a break for a little bit but I am coming back and now armed with Crysis warhead.

I thought I would be all mean, rearin to go, launching into the sky with my scary hawkmoths an all, cept after I ran all the updates and tried to launch the game I just got a big black screen!

So help me debug this bugger a little bit! What do you all figure is goin on?

Pardon the terrible southern accent attempt, for some reason when I am at work I talk southern, cause it's what everyone else does.

Heh, gonna have fun getting my x52 pro and ch pedals working correctly again I bet.

How long have you let it sit at the black screen? Sometimes I get one that lasts a couple minutes before the game finally loads.

Well, the black screen that shows up opens and I have let it run for oh 20 seconds or so, normally by then windows tells me that the program is not responding and then closes it.

I'll try letting it run for like 5 minutes, be back in a bit.

Sound for me, that you use the wrong dll.

Copy the mwll.dll of the bin32wars folder into the bin32 folder of mwll, prompt to override. (I assume you use 32bit. For 64 obiously use the 64-folders...)

I installed Crysis warhead, that was the right one, right?

The DLL thing, I will check that out in a bit, working on fixing someones computer a little atm, but it sounds promising!

I have tried to make it run in dx9 mode, 32 bit and 64 mode, no luck so far.

For reference I am running windows 7 with a Radeon 5850 graphics card, amd 6 core 1090 processor, 4gb of memory,

Also, I have drank my coffee this morning but I think I will go get another cup. :P

Warhead is the single player, Wars is multiplayer, for which MWLL requires the latter
Play my free open source web game MiniMek - Urbie Defense!  Its "mega fun" but with mini meks!

If you got the disk, Wars is on a 2nd disk which is what you need for multiplayer.  If you got it through a digital download, let us know which one and we'll point out how to get wars for it.

Oh, yeah I bought it straight from EA last night. My guess is I pointed LL to the wrong place when I installed it, or something to that effect.

So yeah, how do I fix this? Your all pro by the way.

So yes, a quick google search and I found out I do indeed need Crysis wars.

Seems there is a free trial of wars that I can use my Crysis warhead key with to activate it? I hope that is the legit way to do it, would hate to get banned.

I do not see wars for sale on the EA webpage so I think it is a reasonable method?

Course if I had known that I would have just bought the maximum edition if it is purchasable by dlc.

Wars comes free with Warhead (2 discs 1 purchase) so you'll just need to find the option in the downloader to install Wars. (Should be a blue 'i' on the eadm?)

Wars is always in a package with Warhead. The Warhead key is the key for Wars as well.

Bought on EA?  Easy, open up the EA Download Manager and you'll see and i next in below the picture of the game.  Click on that, you'll see a section for "add ons" to the right click on that and it should give you the option to install wars.

+1. EA needs to fix that......make it more obvious
