Yes it is, I have loved all the Total War games, but they've really surpassed themselves with this one.

Not quite, I had a friend come and stay with me for a few days, went camping (proper big boy camping, cutting down dead wood with a machete etc), visited local history noises (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colchester_Castle) and all that.

If you fancy a battle or two at some point GC, drop me a pm with your SteamID.

I loved the original Shogun game on the Commodore Amiga (might have been C64 but IIRC it was on the Amiga) and then the Shogun Total War on the PC (plus the other Total War games and mods of them also), so I figure as soon as I have time again to play games I'll be checking this out.

It'll be good to have the enemy "Running Wike a Whipped Dog!" again, and I'm glad their generals don't suicide charge anymore too   8)

Are Monks cooler than Gladiators....  :-\ ..tough call, just a pity the Japs never used "ELEPHANTS!"  :o I loved my elephants.

The demo was awesome

Too bad I suck the second I have to control a large area (at one point it made you fight an enemy in 2 different locations across the map from each other while being outnumbered 3-1 :o)

Rome and Medieval II were pretty weak without mods.

But Rome with Europa Barbarorum mod is probably one of my favorite games ever.
The amount of complexity I got used to in those mods disallows me from going back and playing vanilla total war games.

I'm playing Medieval II with Stainless Steal mod, its ok, better than vanilla, but no where near the complexity and historical accuracy EB had.

I liked the Vanilla versions (although they were pretty easy), Barbarian Invasion expansion for R:TW was a bit harder and very enjoyable though.

Never played the EB mod (I assume that was for the expansion?)  but played the Rome:Total Realism mod to death (Seleucids FTW!) and was liking how the Warhammer mod was looking (don't know if they finished it though).

@Bill, never played any of the Total War games in MP, for me they were like Civ games, something intrinsically SP, much beard scratching and philostopising, the MP, as it was single battles and micro management without the pause button never really interested me that much.

So far I found MP can be a mixed bag. Sometimes you get those excellant historians who know all the old tatics, and will make this be a extremely tough battle, others you get...I CAN HAZ ARCHERS?!?!?! CHARGE!!!! nubs who go by the Starcraft way of SPAM
Plus in Shogun 2 they have Coop and versus Campigns that are fun to do.

Having played every single one of the games, I can say this is the best combat AI they've had, and it's still largely retarded.

I've never played the MP of any of them either (besides a few LAN battles), but just sticking the idea out there as being charged by Daimio all the time get's a little silly.
