Which Type?
« on: January 03, 2008, 03:13:40 AM »
Maybe I haven't read enough of the mod to know, but I do know that this is called MechWarrior mod and not MechAssault.  I was wondering if the team is going for a MechWarrior PC approach or the horrible watered down MechAssault Xbox piece of shit.  Hopefully the MechWarrior.  =)

This may be a little pretentious for a first post, but I'm pretty sure it's more on the "true-to-BattleTech" side of MechWarrior, but there will be out-of-Mech combat and vehicle swapping (I know MechAssault 2 had that). I'm hoping, though, that when you get into a Mech, VTOL or tank you feel a little more "stuck" to it than in a game like Battlefield 2 or Crysis, where you can teleport in and out of a vehicle and it seems more like a weapon that you can just drop. From what I gather, though, is that if your worried about it being "arcade-y" like MechAssault, you shouldn't, the team seems pretty devout to the BattleTech universe.

Getting the mix of sim and FPS is difficult but so far we are doing a fairly decent job with it. Its going to be up to the beta testers and the hardcore fans to make the suggestions that will ultimately make this succeed. One other thing i want to note is you are NOT going to want to drop your mech, in MWLL mechs are purchased equipment with C-bills you've earned from playing during a round. Mechs aren't really throw away type equipment as they are tough as nails but expensive too :D
