Custom Graphic Config(you wanna see pretty?)
« on: June 17, 2009, 07:09:51 PM »
I figured I would share the 2 graphics mods I'm running with crysis that give some just stunning results for realistic graphics.

First off I'm running the Natural Mod for Crysis which can be found here- http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=14195 .

What does the Natural Mod add to Crysis?

•realistic atmospheric lighting

•realistic dusk and dawn

•realistic ambient fog

•realistic sun

•realistic night

•realistic moon position

some SS of it's results-
before after
before after

Next is the Crysis Extreme Quality [1.34] TOD mod found here- http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=31242

What does the Extreme Quality [1.34] TOD mod add to Crysis?

•Increased lod distances on terrain, vegetation, sprites & shadows.

•Increased water reflections distance and quality & tweaked the update
distances.

•Added "sys_spec_Full" to force all other cmds not in the config to
very high.

•Increase battle dust range in meters.

•Optimize particles & physics.

•Tweaked shadows & ssao varibles for best visual lighting.

•Solved many artifacts with lod & shadows with vanilla settings.
(ie; screen flickering, terrain, water, and shadows updating)

•Better water reflections, waves, & update distances.

•Better detailed mountains and surface terrain.

•Better shadows & post processing effects.

•Better view distances.

•Better bump maps.

•Better HDR effects.

Running these two mods yeild some very impressive graphics, and are not for the weaker computers here. I average about 25 fps running these mods at 1920*1200 resolution. My system specs are-

Processor: Xeon quad 3220 OC'ed at 3484 mhz
Motherboard: EVGA 750i FTW
Cooling: GIGABYTE G-power 2 Pro cooler
Memory: Ballistix 6gigs (2*2gig/2*1gig)DDR2 800/4.4.4.12 @ 1008/5.5.5.15
Video Card: EVGA GTX280 OC'ed to 671core/1444shader/1148memory
Harddisk: WD RaptorX 150GB
Software: Windows 7 RC 64 bit

Well I installed everything and I noticed in the in game settings that some of them are set to high instead of very high, will that interfere with the overall effect of the changes if they are set to very high?

I also noticed in some areas that even when there was ambient light present that some things wouldn't light up even in night vision.

Hmm, most the setting on my rig are set to custom after installing these mods. Not sure why your getting settings at high. Also, the mods run sweet for me, no object that aren't lit up or anything like that. You didn't have any other graphic mods installed before these did you? I'd take some SS of crysis running on my rig but for some reason when I try to take a SS now, they all come out as black screens. Not sure why it's doing that now, SS weren't a problem when I first installed these mods.

Your welcome Nano.

No, the overall effect is beautiful, thanks for posting it up.  Most of it is custom, but some settings are reading High in game, that's why I was wondering.  I had plain vanilla Crysis before these mods.  The only mod I've been jonesing for Crysis is the MWLL.  I'll post up some ss later and you can tell me how it compares to the images you're getting.

does one have to have vista (thus the ability to run very high vanilla) to run these mods? or would they work on XP?

Well here's some daytime shots from the first couple of levels.  Sorry about the size to anyone with a smaller monitor.

I still seem to be averaging around 32fps with these settings.  Once I get my new video cards it should be around 40fps @ 4x AA average on a 24".  End of next month it should look even better hopefully.
