Those new cards are going to be nuts.  I wonder if ATI will counter with something useful this time.

Lets hope so.. Price wise..

NVIDIA's GTX260 with 896MB is moderately priced and a quite decent powerhouse. I don't expect to play Crysis at 1680x1050 all maxed out, but it should allow an upper end config nevertheless. Can't wait to get my hands on that baby.

a q? here, how dos this setup woks with the mod;

It's ~300 EUR over here, while NVIDIA's current cutting edge GTX280 w 1024MB) comes in at up to 600 EUR ;)


Not fully sure about your config, as I'm neither using AMD nor ATI components, but I think the card is considered a competitor for the GTX at certain resolutions and the CPU is quite good as well, so I think you should be able to play with a lot of eyecandy.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the new X2 card from ATI..  (HD4870 X2)
It will give the GTX280 a run for it's money..

With my 9600 GT, I'm covered in the GPU section!

Does this rely on the CPU any more than the average? I have a 4000+X2 overclocked to 2.5 ghz.

And a crappy motherboard, but I'll update that soon.

Bottom line: you should be fine with a X2 though the GFX could need an upgrade :P

I know the AMD Quads aren't as efficient as the Intels but my Q6600, stock 2.4GHz clock speed runs a 40% load with the mod. It's not that CPU intensive. GPU on the other hand, I have no doubt it's enough grunt to push a 9800GX2 all the way with plenty of room to spare. Draw your own conclusions. I'd say that MWLL adds about 15-20% of a performance hit compared to stock Crysis, about evenly on the GPU and CPU. It's a memory hog though, eats about 2.5GB of RAM during gameplay right now, at least that's the max I've observed. That's on top of whatever else you're running, btw.

It'll only get worse. MWLL has lots of particle effects and the map sizes are on the order of 4 times the size of Crysis multiplayer, with more stuff on the map to boot.

I know the developers have probably discussed this before, but I'll chip in anyways.  IMHO, the MW fanbase has generally been more interested in immerse gameplay than cutting edge graphics.  That said, the new graphics look good--I just hope that you don't sacrifice too many frames for a pretty picture! :)
