Uhm... it's being made for Crysis. I don't think there's too much choice there, it's going to be pretty pictures anyway. (Unless the art is horrible, but horrible art doesn't speed the game up, unfortunately for Oblivion.)

Hmm I don't know if that's necessarily true.  The Crysis engine is very scaleable--and even though I don't expect the system requirements to be a step down from Crysis, I'm hoping they don't push them up either.

That, basically, has been confirmed already though. We strongly advice to at least have more RAM than Crysis requires.

More RAM to hole more awesomeness.  Sounds about right to me.  :D

We've hunted down and fixed all the memory holes in the mod already. Well, as far as we know. If there are any leaks, they're small and not unstable.

I personally recommend the i7 920 processor machine, with the one Radeon HD 4850 already in it, another PCI-16x slot just sitting there empty (crossfire capable, by the way...), and then here is the kicker.  THAT SUCKER SUPPORTS 24MB of RAM, yes, an i7, 24GB of RAM, and imagine dual HD 4850's running in crossfire!!!  For the money...a heck of a system. (less than $1500.00)

and BTW, the Radeon HD 4870 X2  (that's "X2" not "times two"),  completely and utterly DESTROYS the GTX 260 and the GTX 280.

Wouldn't do it... the i7/4850 is too much cpu and not enough gpu. you're better off going core 2 quad and an x2 video card. Don't get me wrong, the i7 is a very mean CPU, my friend's got one with a GTX 260OC and running crysis cpu barely does any work, but even my Q6600 only runs 30-40% load. You're just far better off spending the cash you save from the CPU on a better video card. As for Fallout 3, maxing it isn't a problem, even for my older Q66/88GT system.

Crysis, no.

Yeah, Fallout 3 is quite a bit away from Crysis' ressource hunger.

F3 uses the old Gamebryo engine, but I think they did a good job on the overall game play with the VAT system, keeping in line with the original Fallout versions.

and it does not look all that old . .
only problem is, that if you take one wrong turn, you're suddenly half through the main quest . .

The Forum has nearly spoiled the game with floded quest solutions and HEX code. for Items and Perks
I mostly try to get all the side quest too, and avoiding the Main quest if possible! But I will probably run it thrue a few time anyway. Now I first have to finish playing it as a "daddy´s good boy" then as a "jet junky" or "sniper"!

Yeah, Fallout 3 is quite a bit away from Crysis' ressource hunger.

Ironcially I (at points, especailly near the city) frequently drop below 15-20 FPS in Fallout 3, while Crysis runs smooth as butter on high settings AND looks better considerably.

Gamebryo is an older-than shit engine, I wish they would ditch that rust bucket already.  I already had to compeltely strip all my codecs and re-install them as well as force windows to run with max memory page file in order to stop crashing every 20-30 minutes (partly due to the fact that all audio/video in the game runs through Codecs which causes conflicts with any kind of media player configuration that might be running in the background, so I've heard).

I played Fallout3 on xbox :P  I get 60-100 fps on cod4 on larger user made maps with everything turned up, but that game is VERY well optimized.

That's maybe because the system is built for those games. Lol. You will always get high FPS for an X-Box game on an X-box system.
