The remembrance speaks to us of the evil in man's will, of the reason of exodus and rights of the traveller... Arcadia is our destiny and our right! By the blood names of the founders we must return... Return and protect that which is unique among the stars. Terra awaits us as it was written. We are the last of the Wardens. Perhaps, though there are still about 3 limitations.

1) last I knew this was made using flowgraphs, which apparently do not work in multiplayer

2) if it runs as AI, which is a good idea I might add, none of us here have any experiance programming AI

3) Crysis, so far as we have seen, does not support syncing AI over a network. This is actually the foremost limiting factor when considering any sort of bots as well.

2.  It runs "like AI".  All it really is, from glimpsing at the flowgraph, is that is determines where to go next if there is another fire entity in proximity.

It would still take FOREVER to set up though, even if you knew the base code by heart.

Im sure the fire propogation in FC2 will be largely involved. I can see them being able to tweek the fire on a very low level in that game. As for the frrezzing of matierials, it only works on ones that already have a frozen form. The fire spreading in FC2 will be based on whats burning, wind direction and other thigns. Its far different from swapping out one texture with another. Its a living breathing thing in that game i think. As for Crysis, I think they will add more functionality over time. As it stands rite now, theres not a lot they could add that anyones videocard would be able to do extra. The 128 stream procs in an 8800 do all the can just to render the textures at some points. Adding geo shaders to the mix would eat proc power while consuming more Vram. Thats power and ram that no one has to spare.

Flowgraphs and AI do work in Multiplayer, there are settings in the flowgraph editor that deal with multiplayer.

Of course, the problem is, what exactly does work.   Stuff that effect weapon loadouts and the like do work, as well as moving lights and such.

AI works, because what are the turrets?

They are AI Archetype Entities.

Granted, they are static.  I think the issue lies in the fact that AI navigation nodes do not work online, which means all AI is pretty much useless unless it's static... like turrets.

lolz, imagine, since fc2 will likely follow the crytek love of dense jungles, you throw a grenade in the beginning of the level and wait till the whole thing goes up in flame. you could just sit back and enjoy. "wow that fire is so nicely done, i can almost feel it!" "OMG MY PCS ON FIRE AUGGH!!!!!!!!!!!"
i can see it now, in the news headlines...."In other news today, Crytek is being sued for the destruction of 400 different cities because of their new dynamic fire programming in the latest far cry game" ;D

Um, Crytek has pretty much nothing to do with FarCry 2.
