I still have a fondness for spore i play it every once in awhile.

I wish they had more complex models for their creatures and evolutionary patterns. Like imagine waterbased inteligent life underwater cities or burrowing animals. I think things like that would realy make it interesting.

Would anyone have bought it if they advertised it for what it really was? "Pay full money for 4 short non-repeatable minigames, plus a 5th minigame in freeplay mode"

No? Didn't think so. Also, I don't see how you're supposed to make any real civilisation when every 20 seconds you're being nagged to go shoot sick animals or chase off more pirates

Yeah pretty much XD. I understand why they didnt they likely couldnt though this time out but still some simple updates could fix that. However i digress they likely decided (or rather EA most likely decided not the studio) that a more streamlined game geared a bit more twords kids( or the layman) would sell better.

I hope they come out with a spore 2 that is more hardcore or at least has more breadth in regards to growing your creatures evolutions. I would also love for things like eco location, infrared and ultraviolet (birds eyes) mechanisims and the other sensory organs to be implimented and have diferent flare to represent their advantages and disadvantages.

I mean imagine this you make a snake so basicly you can hide, sneak and have heat vision that lets you see everything in the dark and that gives off body heat. This vision could be represented with a gradient of red orange and yellow with blueish hues for cold stuff.

Better still i want eco location or sonar for when i have water based creatures. Simply have everything outlined that you cant see due to distance or bad eyesight in a white or a color of your choosing (different planets will have different colored water/air) every .7 seconds in active or 1.5 in passive mode. Other creatures could hear your sounds if they too had the ability and track you down in active mode also. Hell combine eco location with a fishes lateral preassure sensory organs and you could see shit for miles in the ocean XD

This type of stuff seems like a no brainer to me but hey what the hell do i know about what kind of biological mechanisims are cool or interesting to represent in a game . I only get to use 5 on a daily basis.

Anybody that liked spore even remotely... check out Darkspore... its a kind of hybrid MMO/action RPG based in the spore universe... The editor to create ur hero's with is way more advanced than the one in the original Spore, lots more options..  the game is currently in open Beta phase and I have to say its a prettty fun game, even in beta form.. Not sure how much longer the open beta will be around, its due for launch soon, but anybody interested can check it out here ... free to download and play the beta at present.

I played thru the majority of the closed beta test cycles and in my opinion, its a really fun game. Only drawback is the need to have a persistant web connection to play, as everything is authenticated via their servers.. the MP component(both co-op and pvp) are also really cool and makes the need for a persistant connection not so bad.
