Separate BA controls
« on: April 26, 2011, 02:43:03 PM »
Is it possible to separate some controls for BA? E.g. I want to switch mouse 2 to zoom for BA, but keep mouse 2 to be fire second weapons group for Mechs/vehicles. Ideally I'd like to separate zoom and maybe some targetting controls between Mechs and BA.

Have you tried the action mapper to accomplish this?  I only ask as I THINK this might be possible but am definitely not sure.

if you manually modify the actionmaps.xml file in a text editor (I'd suggest Notepad++) it should be possible to copy/paste that action from the Player section to the Mech section and then change it that way in the text editor (just make sure if you edit the actionmaps.xml you make the same change to the active actionmaps files as well that way if you use the actionmapper later you won't lose your changes)

Just an FYI, the action mapper is found on the MWLL launcher.  It sometimes get's over looked.

Small sign, superior outcome.
Went on for designating "zoom" in mechs to tiltable mousewheel left-click, power down on right-click.
So I well guess you can have nearly anything from the ActionMapperUtility.

I did give the action mapper a go, but unfortunately zoom, sprint and targetting are under the player section, which I believe makes them the same across BA, Mechs e.t.c.

CapperDeluxe, where can I find actionmapper.xml, and the xml files for other action maps I've created? I can only find default_actionmaps.xml, and actionmapper.xml files in the documentation folders, and nothing in VirtualStore.

The actionmaps are per profile under My Documents\My Games\Crysis Wars\Profiles\YourProfileName.

Don't forget you can assign more then 1 key to a function, for example:

Zoom on my set-up is mapped to the "screen zoom" button on my mouse and "z", this way I can zoom with the mouse while driving a mech and the keyboard when I'm BA.

Excellent, got it working perfectly. In the end just copied the zoom section from default to the player (BA) section with mouse2, so mouse2 doesn't have 2 functions when in a Mech. Thanks all!

The bad thing is I've totally remapped my keys to how I usually play games. Normally I use F to throw a grenade in games, so while I'm adjusting to the keys I usually use, I'll probably throw a C8 onto my Mech instead of entering it :/

I've thrown C8 in the hangar more times than I can count.  Not at my asset though.

When I'm in the hangar I like to analyze the map before I buy an asset.  I zoom in and then use right click to grab the map and navigate around.  Right click also throws C8 though even when map is open.   :-\

Not an issue for me though since I rarely eject.  I have nailed a teammate with C8 before though. ;D

I am so suck at BA, I have actually unbound my C8 key, this way I dont explode myself or teammates on accident (having killed teammates on accident with C8 in the mech bay).
I hate Aircraft in this game, if I die from one, I leave.  I wish I could just fire back at them from a Mech.

I don't think that is nearly as bad as throwing an Inferno at the cover you're behind when you try to zoom in ;p

Using G to enter/leave machine, RMB to through C8. Just not to screw the things up...
