Mechwarrior Living Legends Community Teamspeak 3 Server Information:
Address: ts9.gameservers.com:9144
Imagine for a moment, some of you are in this situation while others are hardcore veterans, that you find out about MW:LL and you are excited as you launch your first match into a server. You quickly realize how different this mod is compared to previous iterations of 'mechwarrior' or maybe you have never played the previous genre. Your now piloting battlemechs, armor, or even the wings in the sky with a smile on your face as you try to melt another opponent into scrapheap. But then something is occurring on the server, and you quickly realize that there are groups of mechwarriors and aerospace pilots working with pinpoint accuracy in formations, movement and coordination.
Your newly found joy is smashed into oblivion as your battlemech disintegrates around you. Just another victim, over and over and over. But this does not discourage you, oh no, it only makes you want to be apart of the destructive force that these groups are wielding. But how? I don't recognize who they, or what they are and when you asked in game the website they gave you was to long to write down. Or maybe you have a plethora of questions about the game, but again there is no one to go to? Who are these 'Clans' or 'Units'? What is the difference? And on top of it all, you just joined a different server, it is owned by a different group, which has a different recruiting policy, what to do? I'll dive into answering those questions in a moment, but please continue reading.
So as of right now the MW:LL community is split into different factions, clans, units, mercs etc. All these groups have their own servers, forums, communication programs (teamspeak 3, ventrillo). I started a thread to collect the communication details from all the major MW:LL units that participate regularly and who are active, it is located in the MWLL Battlegrounds: Server Discussion, one of the forum admins has been kind enough to sticky it for easy access. Now this was a step forward in my opinion, to being able to coordinate between the units. You thought it was difficult as a 'pub' or 'newbie' to find out information, well it is just as difficult to coordinate between units. With all these different sites, comms, etc it can be very difficult for the community as a whole to bond together, develop.
Last night the 12th Vegan Rangers hosted 'Open Merc Night' a scrimmage setup, battle system on a server they had admin over. The 12th had posted about this event, along with the Smoke Jaguars and they future Tournament in the Matchmaking section on the forums. I mention this because allot of members tend to not look at these parts of the forums, and therefore information is lost.
I have been playing MW:LL for sometime now, with an extended break from the first release until recent. I formed a Clan with my EVE online buddies and attracted attention from 'pubs' seeking that organized game play experience, much like those who have joined the other units, clans have. That organization came to fruition last night in the 12th 'Open Merc Night'. It was amazing, hands down I have not experienced such intense, heart on the line action in MW:LL or even game play since leagues back in the mechwarrior 4 aspect.
I began to ask some of the other guys we had on the server at the time, which ranged from 12th Vegan Rangers, Smoke Jaguars, Knights of the Inner Sphere, Federated Commonwealth to name a few, but I asked them if they would enjoy the ability to log onto a teamspeak 3 server that was not hosted by a different unit, but hosted as the MW:LL hub for all living legend players, clans, units etc. They all said yes to this idea, and most of them have their own comms to fall back on if they wanted to.
So I sat down and thought about this, which I think will answer allot of the questions that new players and other units may be asking. Would this help facilitate better coordination, communication and overall better the community if we bonded together and started working together? I believe the only answer to that question is yes.
Now imagine you just downloaded and entered your first server in MW:LL. Your told on the forums, and when you enter to join this teamspeak 3 server. So without hesitance you log in, and what do you see? You see 40+ members, located in different channels; playing in servers, talking and chatting, coordinating matches. You can now talk to and ask those questions. Now imagine, you have been playing for a little while and you want to join a unit, you have experience semi-league play due to tournaments held by these units, you know who fits your play style, or maybe there is a language barrier and you prefer to join a unit that is your native tongue?
This is all at your fingertips, and as a whole for those who are Unit leaders, it makes coordination between groups to get 'Open Merc Nights' not only once a week, but EVERY night. We are all waiting on NBT, but we do not have to wait on created our own scenario's or battles until then. I am taking this time to write about this because I do think this is a big step forward, and that we as a community need to go forward because no communication between groups is not doing anything but creating more rifts in this group. This being all said, our Clan teamspeak server is no more, it has been replaced by:
Teamspeak 3 - 64bit or 32bit

Once you have logged on you can see each unit that has posted has their own room, if desired it can be locked with a password. Each unit leader will be given admin rights to the server. I welcome all to join, and let us move forward in communication between groups. Ask any of the units that played last night, the ease of all being on one voice server.
Coordination will stem from this, and unit leaders and players can start talking about ideas and putting them into action. I can not do this alone and some out there may be against this idea, but all I ask is you support it and at least give it a try. I look forward to your responses, and if your a unit leader please PM me or hop on the server so we can discuss things.
