BattleTech Universe Community
« on: May 05, 2011, 07:28:21 AM »
(Please move to appropriate section if this is not it)

Hey all, big question here....How would you all feel about a new BTU site? Some place to share things beyond the scope of MWLL? This could be everything from finding someone to play a game of MegaMek with, to a social event in your area for BTU fans, or simply arguing why MW2 had the best intro of all the games. The site would be extremely community driven, with many different forms of communication possible.

Take this post as nothing more than a temperature check. I don't have anything put together yet, but If the interest is there, I will go out of my way to make it happen.

Sounds cool, it'll be an interesting place to learn everyone's biases towards the lore.

I'm too moronic to have a side  ;D

Don't all speak up at once....This site would serve as a jump point for inter unit communications, aggregation of various BTU games and, a communications hub for scheduling matches and regular old my mech is better than your mech.

Lobo, talk to Ryu (CBS Loremaster) about setting this up. Go to our website, register and go to the "mess hall" room to start the thread. Just Lobo for now (unless you want to join CBS) to discuss whether he would be willing to participate. He's been a great Loremaster and knows Canon pretty well.

Dunno, I'll need to ask Ryu next time he gets on

Ok I sent wolf a PM about it on SJ's site but no reply yet. I take it from all the talk about Ryu that he has taken lead on this. I ask because he asked me if I could do it and I explained what would be needed if he wanted it done right. I havent gotten a reply yet.

I am still very much in the planning stages, of what exactly I want to include, how ambitious I want to go initially. Stay Tuned.

I am not involved in this (not yet, anyway). Gremlich just wants me to get involved. ;D

As Lobo said, he is manning this operation.

I know that its still very much in planning. But like I said I was approached about making the site, said I could do it but for what they want to its not going to be free (there is software cost involved, not costs from me I dont charge for stuff like this unless it requires me to do mass amounts of custom code.). I asked if they would like a itemized cost proposal and I never got a reply. Either way even if you guys decide you wouldn't like my help I can still offer to host.

I love this idea. We could even convert the rest of the BT fans to play mwll with us.

"Most discipline is hidden discipline, designed not to liberate but to limit. Do not ask 'Why.' Be cautious with 'How.' 'Why' leads inexorably to paradox. 'How' traps you in a universe of cause and effect. Both deny the infinite."
