OK,  first off video stability is much improved on my rig no more flashing rocks and funky colors flashing where name designators are also the video is much improved I did have it set on high and now I have it set to max with out any funky things happening or stuttering or surging out of other players. I did hear other players talking about these problem and they thought it was because the server had been running the map so long and that 32 players were on server. Yet I did not have a problem or did not see any of the problems they were talking about. Perhaps it is because I have a 20meg internet connection and running 12 Gig of Ram and  a pair of ATI 5770's in crossfire X. The map auto download feature worked like a charm first time I tried it in downloading Gator bait and I was able to join with no difficulty what so ever. Next weapon adjustments, the ac fire for the ac2's, ac5's and ac10's is much improved (I did not even experience the ac2/5 crash I was getting on 4.9 with sustained fire. I like it now much better please readjust the AC 20's also if you have not. I have not tried that weapon yet, the LBX 5's are OK but I am still iffy on them. The maps the two SA maps I got on were marvelous and the coliseum was and is majestic. I really like all the fireworks and various buzzers and horns not to mention Duncan Fisher doing the announcing. LOL, "I spent many years in a mech and boy is my butt tired!" (bloopers) After two hours of play on 4 different maps ending with TC_Sandblasted I did not experience a bug, hitch or anything to complain about but the price of an ac5 party van costing more that 49K so I can no longer use it as a start up vehicle. Oh yes, the ac hits on target and various stationary objects is much better. So over all I give 0.5.0 Two thumbs up, 5 stars, a 9.75 out of ten (West German Judge again) he marked it down because no new mechs were in the release. I pointed out he should shut his pie hole and have a coke and a smile. How dare he bitch about a great Freebie! ROFL thanks gang you have done well and made an old mechwarrior really, really happy! ;D

Nah. With a 2500k you OC by multiplier. There's no FSB:DRAM ratio to worry about or anything like that.

So the speed will be virtually unnoticeable?  I like the look of it (I'm big on looks) so I may get it anyway...

Yeah, the speed would be the same unless you are running a synthetic memory benchmark.

I'd really suggest sticking to 1.5v memory for SB. Check the motherboard's supported memory list as well.

Please listen to Ratbuddy here, hes completly correct. 1.6v is probably as high as it is safe for an i7 and even then will still more than likly slighly lower your CPU life.

The first thing I learnt about DDR3 ram, expecially with sandy, is timmings do fapp all. Literally. Even in a benchmark your barley notice anything. The only real way to increase the ram speed, is by the Mhz, but that won't make much of a real life difference still. After 1600mhz, the speed becomes less and less noticable. And on sandy, you won't be touching anything that will speed the ram up, thus 1600mhz will be just fine.

Basically don't fall for the marketing hype :)
Sandy 2500k @ 4.6ghz
GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 V1.0 - Worst Motherboard ever.
2x GTX 580 3gb
8gb DDR3 dual channl 1600mhz
HX 1000W Corsair
Win 7 x64 Home Edition
5970x1200 Or 1920x1200 Triple Screen 26" Monitors
