I could be wrong, but I think CCC degrades things you don't *normally* notice.  Such as, the frequency in which water reflections & shadows update, as well as shadow resolution and visible shadow distance.  I quit using CCC because I actually did notice these things, especially on some of the water filled MWLL maps.

It also turns up settings you otherwise could not.  It turns down the ones you won't notice as well yes.  The thing is you have complete control over all of those variables.  CCC creates configs based on feedback running Warhead which is a fair bit different.  So if you notice something odd you are free to tweak each individual cvar until satisfied.  You don't have to take it as it is.  But after doing a lot of testing I think CCC 4+ looks as good or better than "very high" and performs at least as well.

I personally think Very High on vanilla Crysis looks like crap compared to Lvls 3 and 4 on CCC, both for Crysis, and for MWLL.  Note that is NOT an insult to the devs.  All I'm trying to say really, is CCC spoiled me.  It's hard to go back to default values.

I dont know what changed about the lava map but i just played it for the first time and the FPS lag was horrible--every other map i dont have any problems even with a field full of mechs yet even alone i could barely swing my reticule. I also CTD and the debugger dident open.

Inferno....needs tweaking in so many ways it really needs to be totally redone

Seriously the lava killed me more then any enemy simply because you dont know where the hell the lava is and by the time you see it your already sliding into lava with no way to get out. I love the CQB feel of the twisting pathways but with pathing the way it is your more likely to hit a little snag and get stuck. A look at the 2 most popular TSA maps will show what works, clearcut and sandblasted. If inferno was a giant debris ridden valley between the 2 bases with the warren of side tunnels on either side it would be awesome--throw in some middle of the valley lava flows requiring bridges to cross and you'd have an awesome CQB chaos map but still have a very clear path between the bases.

Is it possible to make the lava surge? because holy shit if the warrens could have lava surges you could have epic battles with the main lines advancing with plenty of cover from missiles due to the scattered outcroppings while the snipers and missiles rained down destruction and the fast brawlers ran the gauntlet of the warrens before the lava surge killed them.

We need more wide open flat maps like marshes but throw in some valleys/high passes that are protected from ranged fire so you could have the entire enemy team in support platforms and the entire other team flanks them in the trenches with brawlers.

I am back at the system where the 50 to 60% slow down happens with the BA laser. I have completely reinstalled Crysis Wars and MWLL (also deleted profile in My Games etc.), but the issue still happens. I made some screenshots with profile 6 and some with profile_filter = renderer and profile 1:

The slowdowns caused by laser impact effects are known to the team and are currently beeing worked on.
There comes a point where the talking must stop, and people have to do actual work.

Alright i'm getting really weird ping spikes, i go from normal ping(150-200) to absurdly high ping(150-450) and as far as i can tell its not my line because there was zero activity besides my own computer and nothing was running besides steam. It could simply be my hawaiian connection but i thought i'd check if anyone else is getting the same.

Ah, that's good to know :). Though I fear the laser effect is not the only cause for my performance troubles :(. In a game on DV just now it got horribly unplayable. I get ~50 FPS regularly, 30 FPS during fights, but during fights (or near fights) I get these pauses every 1 to 4 seconds that last 1 to 2 seconds long, which screws everything up of course. This didn't happen in 0.4.9 with that system (the one with 3.1 GHz AMD triple core, Win7x64, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 5770 512MB).

Have you updated DX? My DX was 3 months out of date, and it caused all the stuttering problems. I have no idea why this would appear in 0.5.x but worth trying, being it fixed it for me.

Well, I run DX10. The only updates you can download are for DX9. The last DirectX 10 version is DirectX 10.1 6.00.6002.18005 which is included in Windows 7. But I'll run the DX9 web installer anyway.

The DX9 update, updates all the other DX. DX10 and DX11 still use stuff in DX9. If you do not have DX9 updated, any game of any DX COULD run like crap because of it.

The main DX10 and DX11 files are updated in service packs.

Welp tried multiple things but still running high ping, i think the debug DLL is causing it as when it was running fine it was when the DLL somehow got reverted--gonna delete it and let the install replace it so i can test.
