Regarding the non-duncan-fisher-stutters: I observed, that in a few instances they happened exactly right before I get hit by an LBX-20 for example. i.e. right before I hear the sound of getting hit by an LBX-20, the game freezes for half a second or a second.

I would like to add a baseline to this discussion before we see a lot of random posts about performance drops:

1) Don't take a full SA Server with 24 players or mare as a good baseline - it's too crowded and since maps are small you have a lot more action going on (alas particle effects for example)
2) Run a reasonable server that you can compare to prior to the 0.5.0 beta. It won't help to compare apples (SA 24 players) with Oranges (TC 24 players). Make sure you have proper locations with a comparable situation (hard to get now due to 0.4.9 probably being unpopulated)
3) Have fun out there!

Thanks guys, we do appreciate these reports as long as they come in a professional "benchmark" manner :)

To follow up my previous post, I had another round on Kagoshima later that night after changing the CCC settings. During really heavy firefights, the game became nearly unplayable, with frame rate dropping down to the low teens. I think these firefights were much heavier than any of the ones in the previous match, and they really highlighted the significance in the performance drop between 0.4.9 and 0.5.
Finalizer! Has anyone ever told you that your the bomb diggity diggity?  :o

I too have lower performance in firefights in TC, but it's too early to tell for sure.  I just noticed that at the lowest settings I dropped 10 fps or so, a little more in firefights.

Until I play on Huntress with 24+ players I can't tell whether its caused by the server.

XP 32bit
2GB ram
c2d e7200 @ 3.6 ghz
4870 1gb

I'm not particularly surprised that I get less FPS, with the amount of particles flying and everything, considering my specs.

I'll keep an eye on it to see if I can get a better before/after comparison.

My opinion, so far, is servers are running too high player count (tc or sa), and things go very weird.

Turned down graphics and cleared cache, made it much worse.  :'(

I can't help but notice every person to chime in on this thread seems to be a vet.

I had a better game today on Huntress with Kago after putting in 4gb of readyboost with a patriot xporter.
This is on all high except for shaders, shadows water and sound at medium.
Still a small decrease in performance from before.
I have found clearing shaders gives minor improvements in performance.
Also I can not get CCC 3.0 configs to run on this patch.

This patchs performance really seems dependent upon player numbers and size of battle.
Maybe its time to cap all TC to 24.

Edit. Huntress at 30 players and CCC lvl 3 was perfectly acceptable.
Now that I got CCC working I would really try using that than futzing with settings yourself.

I just joined a match, and yeah it was full to the brim...FPS was unplayable, I could barley hit a mech, God knows a BA! Hope it was down to 32 people in the room, else no more MWLL until new CPU :(

My FPS seems to be fine now, at least in TC and TSA games.  Haven't played anymore SA yet, but I'll test that out soon.

Got an average of 30 fps on Thunder Rift and 41 fps on Sandblasted.   Somewhere around 25-30 players on the server.   Better fps then I got in .4.9.  Thanks for the suggestions KingLeer!

You guy did great on this release and the game is better then ever!  Can't wait for future updates.

i'm gonna withhold playing until dev's fix these issues, game is currently unplayable for me at 0.5.0

lowering the graphics doesn't bother me so much, it was kinda overdue for me as i kinda planned on doing it during 0.4.9 anyway, but the sound issues have always been pretty bad and now they're causing 1-3 second stutters, especially in the arena maps

i'd like an option to turn the SA announcer completely off, as i get a guaranteed 1-3 second stutter when one of those clips is about to go off

also it seems like since they fixed the ballistic graphics i get lagged to death whenever i'm up against a mech/tank that specializes in ballistic weaponry (beat stick, demo c and anything with RAC5's, vulture b, huit prime); i understand that ballistic weaponry is supposed to be jarring/annoying and basically prevent your opponent from dialing in their fire on a specific spot on you, but when i'm in a 90k heavy mech and am completely at the mercy of a huit prime, there's a problem

i also experienced at least 3 server crashes today as well, i play mainly on Huntress and (TLL)Matchbox and they seemed to go down every 1.5 map rounds, though i cant say if 0.5.0 is to blame for this

I did have performance loss.  Freezing for a couple seconds every few minutes and worse fps.

I figured I'd just post that deleting my shaders cache (and I also installed CCC Lvl. 3) eliminated my freezing.
