I hate to sound like a broken record but it happened all night last night in various SA maps.  You die, you click, and most of the time it would respawn you right away.  But other times you wait minutes literally before respawning is available.  Clicking for 5 minutes until you respawn while you watch other people die and instantly respawn makes for only one logical explanation.  A spawn queue.  I'm not trying to be argumentative here but what I am trying to figure out is why?  Why does it randomly delay people spawning and not others?  Its very random.  But it really affects gameplay because in 5 minutes time I could easily have spawned and racked up points at least twice-over.

In all your posts you have not mentioned yet how many people were playing on that server.

See post #3.   The fact that it is 16 active players and then others join has been the assumption all along.  :-)

SA was inteded to have a quick and actionrich gameplay without any waiting. We assumet that every player when he dies can respawn right away. Because of that there is no queue system.

So in the example I mentioned above, having more than 16 players on the map causes players to be swapped out.  So you can only have 16 active players.  The server cannot (I assume) change from 16 players max to 30 players max for specific maps so it is still set to 30 players when an SA map rotates in.  So the problem comes in when you have someone who has been playing since the map began suddenly is sitting out while new players in light mechs go in to feed the other players points. 

So assuming the above is true there needs to be a way for the server to adjust max players based on map rotation.

Not beeing able to change the number of client slots is a CryEngine limitation we unfortunately can do nothing about. We are trying to enforce 16 player SA matches in other ways though.
There comes a point where the talking must stop, and people have to do actual work.

So when we are waiting for several minutes we may be waiting because the 17th or greater player joined and now is being rotated in.  So we wait until someone else dies before we can respawn, which means then someone else sits out.  But there have been times multiple people are waiting for several minutes and there were only 18 people on the server.  Something seems amiss, that's why I ask.

Here's to a solution in a futer patch.  Cheers :-)

Is SA intended to be only 18 players or is it just map limitations?

Never once in any of our alpha testing were we able to replicate the "no respawn" issue that you guys are describing.  Call me a bit suspect but I have a feeling that players were not continuing to click to reissue the respawn requests and probably thought "I clicked once, that should do it" and didn't know that they needed to continue to reissue the respawn requests by additional clicks.
 
Beyond this, there are still servers out there running at far more than maximum recommended players.  Let's get that fixed first and go from there.
 
Suggested player counts are per-map, not necessarily inherent to the mode itself.  We may develop maps that have lower or higher numbers of suggested players in the future but for the 0.5.0 release we settled on a 16 player max as a good choice for our official map set.

I have as well experienced the 30-45 second wait for respawn, me and Talon had it happen to us together sunday night.  I WILL assure you KingLeer I was very much pressing my left mouse click, and my right mouse click, and the other buttons on my mouse, and space bar, and the left click, etc until I respawned.  I find it hard to think all 16 bays are in use or were used within 30 seconds, it is possible though.  But I have had this happen a number of times, and i do click multiple times. :)

Just tossing that out.

Is it possible to fix it so that we can at least spectate while waiting?  Every time I get stuck clicking away to spawn in SA I am still in the BA death cam mode where you can't see much of anything due to the static/blood/cracked glass.  I didn't want to hit 'M' and 'Spectate' in case that would prevent me from getting back into the match.

I think you can do that with right click.

+1  absolutely, the entire time i am clicking and whatnot trying to get back in, even tried hitting M and selecting a different spawn point at times to see if maybe it was just that spawn point being a choke point....but alas....no good.  I even made a comment once about this is going to wear out my mouse button and/or batteries quickly because it's literally a minute or better of constant clicking.....click click click....on chat it was like...hey is anyone else stuck?....answers coming back "ive been stuck a while now"..."me too"...."yeah me too"....

you can even sit and watch after hitting Tab that there are people in game, who then get killed, you see their player name with the red crossbones icon...then they spawn again almost right away....while several of us sit and click incessantly to no avail...

all of this happening when there are only 18-20 players on the server, so while there may be something else server side that needs to be adjusted, i can assure you it wasn't because we had 30 people on the server on a map limited to 16 players....because in that same Tab menu you can clearly see how many people are (Spectating) and one particular time when Coffinail mentioned when I looked there was 16 active, 3 or 4 of those had the red crossbones including myself and coffinail (this is when we were stuck), and then there was two people listed as "spectating" so at that moment there was 18 people on server total, when he looked there probably was 20 total
