Speaking of gamepads, I've been thinking of getting a usb one for emulation purposes.

Are the wireless ones actually worthwhile or am I better off just getting something with a 20 meter cable so I can play in my bed?

All suggestions and reccomendations welcome (even the ones telling me to go fapp myself!).

Go fapp yourself

Then get a wired one. Lighter and you don't have to worry about batteries. As long as the way to your bed is relatively clear, it'll be fine

I'd go with wired. I use a wireless and constantly having to get batteries is a pain in the ass, not to mention having the controller dying in the middle of a Forza 3 race.

I use the rechargeable batt packs for mine, work really well and last a fairly long time.  Looking forward to seeing what happens in Halo 4 given the crippled of both the Flood and the Covenant at the end of Halo 3, which I ran through again last night for old times sake :)

The only part of Halo 3 I like is the campaign, and the first mission (and a few others) just happen to be scratched up on the disk, so playing the campaign always feels odd

I don't even remember how the game started

Loving Reach on the other hand, although it has gotten a bit dusty recently

Logitech makes a damn good set of controllers for that purpose. They play and feel like the old SNES and Playstation controllers. They don't work too badly for N64 games either. Though I'm still trying to get Star Fox to control properly.. fapping hard to pull off a somersault or reversal without the old N64 controller. But Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Mario Kart 64 all perform admirably (btw I own legit copies of these games, and will not distribute the roms, anyone wants them, google them).

I have the Logitech Rumble 2 and the rumble function almost works with the N64 emulations, but it goes nuts more times then not. This might be the emulation software though.

Bill?
Always use cables.
Wireless just makes you go and buy batteries every month or new accupacks all now and then AND they always get low on energy when you most need them.

Your using a cable for yer guitar too, I hopes ?^^

If its one of those wireless USB jobs like the PS3 has, I don't see an issue with going wireless. Yeah batteries suck, avoid wireless controllers that use that. But a bluetooth wireless USB controller for PC would actually be pretty sweet.

Personally I wouldn't use a mouse or keyboard as wireless since you'd wear it down pretty fast. But controllers aren't used as much so it shouldn't be an issue.
