Can most 460 cards clock high enough to match the 6870? If so that's what I'll get.  Their prices are incredible right now.

Easily, of course you can overclock the 6870, but I don't think it will be a match for the 460 still. But we aren't talking alot of difference fps wise either way. Make sure it's the 1gb 460.
Yeah I think the 6870 is limited in overclockability.  I'll make sure to get the 1gb if I decide to bite.

Loving my 5850, which is currently sitting at stock settings.  Running at High, 1650x1050 windowed ('cause I like to see things), only chokes up when there are close to 14 mechs all firing at once in brawler range.  At that point, I figure the poor card deserves to get choked up.

Serious, what kind of FPS do you get at high while running around maps with a few other mechs around? I'm on all low and get 30-40 right now, of course it goes down a lot in tough firefights.

I'm hoping I can get a few more frames if I upgrade, with that more important than eye candy to me, though eye candy never hurts.

Might be that a CPU upgrade is more important though.  I will find out soon enough, once I feel like spending the money on everything.

ya know.... I get 30 fps on a 4830 . You just concentrate on getting all the performance you can out of your machine.
Its looking a little long in the tooth though, might be time for an upgrade.  :-*

I know because thats where my FPS sits at normally around 35ish, depends on the size of the game. Not smooth enough for X pulse lasers though lol.
