Aerospace pilots

can anyone share what controls they use for flying? I can't seem to find a good control set and was curious what other people use.

Personally, I use the default setup for both fighters and VTOLs, except I have the throttle set to my joystick slider. Need to change my eject control, though...Just today I went to flush the coolent after using afterburners twice and ended up ejecting instead X3 Though the first time it saved my ass, so yeah X3

Exit key to G.

Turns on mouse axis, Rolls - on the keyboard. Thus I can aim much better. Other things are pretty standard.

I can't get my actionmapper to pay attention to my controls, it always uses the default controls for aeros.  :-\

I'm a mere fledgling who is more dangerous to himself than others in an aero, but my findings are that the controls don't matter that much as long as they aren't ergonomically unsound.

When I first got into an Aero or a VTOL I felt drunk; I literally experienced vertigo for a few seconds.  But after a few hours in the cockpit (I've flown for about 10 hours total now), you get used to the controls and don't have to think about them that much.

if changes in the actionmapper don't seem to be taking in game, there's usually only 2 reasons for this:

1) The actionmaps you modified is not set as the "Active" one. Use the "Set Active" button/link looking thing at the top of the actionmapper screen
2) In MWLL, your profile is not set to the profile you edited the actionmaps for. Click the Profile button in game and switch to the appropriate one (note that the actionmapper does not allow changing controls for the "default" profile")

I'm using both of them.

The problem is, it completely ignores my aerospace controls, yet my OTHER controls are working fine. I changed my "Override shutdown" and "Eject", those work fine, and I changed my VTOL's control scheme and that worked. Aeros? Nope.

Saber have you tried starting an action map from scratch? Maybe the one your editing is bugged. Are you using a stick?

To the OP I am using a stick most of the time as the throttle is far superior IMHO than using mouse and keyboard. I some time grab the mouse for finer aiming and to save my ass when my stick stop responding for some reason.

I just bought a cheap joystick (Attack3) but when I started playing with the action mapper I saw commands that had no entries in the action mapper.  So I copied the sample Logitech 3d pro joystick and actionmap
files to my profile then made some tweaks after that.  I'm still getting used to it finding things I need to change but using the cheap joystick works way better for me that when I was trying to use the m/k.

think you could post your actionmaps.xml as an attachment so we can get a look at what may be going on (you may have to rename as a txt file to attach it)?

The "Actionmaps.xml" located in My Games/Crysis Wars/Profiles, correct? If so, behold:

the name of that file is "default_actionmaps.xml", correct?  So its not the active actionmaps unless you renamed it before you submitted it.  The active actionmaps would show up as something like "active_default_actionmaps.xml", which would have the same contents as the "actionmaps.xml" that ultimately gets loaded into Crysis from your profiles directory.

I'm wondering if perhaps the tool says its your active actionmaps because its the only actionmaps in that directory and none named with "active_" prepended to it? If thats the case then it probably wouldn't be copying your changes you make over to "actionmaps.xml".  If this may be the case try naming the file "active_default_actionmaps.xml" from your file browser and try modifying again from the actionmapper.

I use an old sidewinder joystick for ASF, mouse and keyboard for VTOL.

ASF flight with a mouse just doesn't feel right to me.

I use a Logitech Extreme 3d Pro, and keyboard.

Pitch and Roll on JS
Throttle and Yaw on Keyboard

I also set up a less sensitive yaw on my joystick twist for fine aiming.
