It's likely going to be a port of the Crysis 1 assets and gameplay into CryEngine 3, so...no, I highly doubt it.  CryEngine 2 would probably make even next-gen consoles cry sweet tears of impotency.

I'm wondering why they would spend so much time, money and effort on changing a game engine just to port onto console. When they could just make a new game instead. It's not like Crysis is popular for it's gameplay lol.

CryEngine 2 can make anything cry as long as you keep pushing the boundaries of the engine. And this will be true still for a couple more years at least.

Soon as you can go six screen + proper 3d + max settings, max AA, max AF with cfg to max it's prettyness and never drop below 50fps :P Then we have finally broken Cry engine 2 :D

From my understanding the limitation consoles have is map size. This is while CoD, MoH, and BFBC play as if you're in a tunnel rather than an open world. I could be wrong though.

CoD was always like that though, it was by desicion rather than restraints (as you can actually make a massive map in CoD just you are restricted in other ways) oh I wouldn't say that BFBC2 was like playing in a tunnel ... that smacks of someone talking about something he knows little of.

It's not map size per say. It's the proccessing power to actually rendor the graphics on such large maps. There is a reason why Xbox360 games almost never use AA ever (It's quite painful at times) and why the graphics are only the same as PC medium settings.

Thats not to say games on the XBox or PS3 look bad. They can look quite stunning. But if you upped the people count, made the maps even bigger, then your just be playing on graphic settings on low...And that isn't good enough for the mass market, where graphics to an extent help sell a game, more so on the AAA titles.

The other main reason why people count isn't upped, is because of lag and how much more likly it's going to effect gameplay and rear it's ugly head. On consoles people expect a certain level of quality and unfortunately this means they have to cut back alot of things to make sure it does. Not to mention the lack of dedicated servers on alot of popular games *Stares at COD*.

BFBC2 maps are pretty large, and are the same on PC and Xbox, other than how good they look ;) BFBC2 really pushed the boundaries on consoles, cannot wait to see how much farher they can take it with BF3.

Am I the only one that thought Crysis was more than just pretty graphics? It's the most fun I've had playing a FPS since Half-Life 2/Portal series. Switching to invisible to sneak up on guys, driving around Ford trucks with the glass breaking away in my face and jumping out switching to my assault rifle with a sniper scope and ....

Dude I had SO much fun on both Crysis 1 and Warhead, I was so sad they were short. (I'm in the process of getting #2.)

Sneaking? Yeah, you can still do that in #2
Driving around? Uhm... Kind of? In a few specific places...
Glass breaking in your face? Nope, not in #2
Assault Rifle with Sniper Scope? Not in #2

Do yourself a favor and wait until it's cheap. ::)

Well, there is the Ranged Combat SCAR, which is an assault Rifle with a Scope . .
But the scope does not zoom that far in i am afraid . . Also, you can only carry . . 2 or 3 weapons at a time . .

Two weapons, plus as many secondaries (rocket launcher, C4, etc) as you like.  Just like the original.  Why that needed to be pointed out is beyond me.

As far as the scope goes, while you can't put a sniper scope on an assault rifle, the engagement ranges in Crysis 2 don't exactly warrant it to begin with.  Simply put, it's not as much of a sandbox, and more of an actual game, and some people are really mad about it.  Don't let them discourage you, it's a great game.

Is less freedom to play as you like the sign of a better game? ;)

Personally, I don't think so, especially since Crysis wasn't even remotely comparable to sandbox games, you still had clear paths that you could follow to reach your (fixed) objective the fastest way (not necessarily the best, easiest or most interesting, but fastest) and options were very limited once the aliens became the main enemies.
Crysis 2 is just more of a standard corridor shooter and we definitely have enough of those by now ::)

Still, what annoyed me most about C2 was the unexplained, massive technology shift for the aliens.
Why would they use bipedal exoskeletons with glaring weak spots when they have fully armored exoskeletons that can fly?
Especially when fighting in a city, where a small, highly maneuverable, flying unit has tons of advantages.
Why the bubonic alien plague instead of their freezing weapons?
What happened to the energy sucking dome above that island?

But oh, we're told that the Nanosuit tech is derived from alien bits found at Tunguska.
Wow, how very creative ::)

mainstream=god at the moment, and everyone and their game (except indie, and the TRULY exceptional) will follow the holy writ of halo\COD4+ to the bone...

which is why im over here playing MWLL ;D

besides i dont think cod players would understand the concept of true distance/sniping, unless they are legacy(cod1-2) players. those big maps might cause a freak out/millions of 2 year olds complaining (cod 5).

Big Beautiful Maps With Lots of People is on the downfall.
