TSA_Forsaken & TSA_Badlands
« on: July 16, 2011, 03:52:17 PM »
New versions are available for the maps!
Current: V0.6
Link:
http://mwllmaps.com/?map=tsa-badlands-new-version
http://mwllmaps.com/?map=tsa-forsaken-new-version

Thx KingLeerUK!

Notes:
- I know only a very few things about the sandbox2 editor, but I tried to make a fun map, which has good overall feeling
- The maps are simple with only a few visual effects, and probably don't reach the level of complexity of other communitiy maps
- No dynamic time of day effects
- The maps have no artifical choke points atm, and can provide lot of cover
- TSA_Forsaken: inspired by Mechwarrior 2 (and by Dark Reign intro :) ), and made fully in the editor
- TSA_Badlands: the heightmap made in Geocontrol2 demo, then I modified it in the editor
- Size of maps: 4x4 km
- Watch your step on the edges of the maps! There are forbidden areas, not visible on the minimap.

Enjoy!
Every feedback/idea/advice is appriciated!

See you in combat!

Cool. I'm very curious how you created those stones. Were they a mix of vegetation or are they a texture or are they an entity?

Parallax maps. Like normal maps, but with occlusion.

I got to play these maps last weekend with ELH, Badlands was a lot of fun. It might be nice if it had more varied terrain instead of the same type of little hills all over the entire map though, I don't know. Hopefully these get put on MWLLMaps soon so we can use the autodownloader. :)

What others said. About the texture itself: Nothing special, only the cliffs_brown.dds texture layer combined with the river_rocks_3d_offset material  ;)

Indeed, the map could use some more variety. I'll see what can I do  :)

I'll add these to BoW Battle Box as well.

Thank you very much for investing so much time, Ivaan! I think we gout about 30hours of fun out of the maps today (counting all the players :)), i really liked the kind of games the maps seem to channel.

I'll attach the screenshot of the hole on Forsaken. I am directly looking at the hole, the 'Mech that got stuck inside earlier isn't on the picture (somebody shot it).
