Your top 10 games
« on: July 20, 2011, 06:50:05 PM »
With Mechwarrior being kind of a niche game played by computer-game connaisseurs :D, I'd like to see what other games Mechwarrior players are into.
I would find this interesting, as I am assuming less mainstream.

What games are your personal best of all time?

I like this thread idea...

1. Doom 64 (If I can just say Doom in general, that. Doom 64 is my favorite though, especially the PC TC port. The puzzles are so f*cked up and the atmosphere is probably what iD originally wanted to get out of the game, but PCs couldn't run at the time. Midway created it during the shift to real 3D polygons like Quake, so the timing was bad and the game never hit off very big, unfortunately. That said, I love the original PC doom just as much, 64 is just my ultimate favorite game ever.)

2. Portal / 2
3. Half-Life 2 / Original
4. Skies of Arcadia
5. Final Fantasy VIII (I don't know why I'm the only person that loved this game. I've been trying to learn Eyes on Me on piano.)
6. Tetris
7. Sonic Adventure (Last good sonic game before silly ass emo-gangasta' Shadow the Hedgehog and other stupid shit completely killed it.)
8. StarCraft: Brood War (I like 2, but the campaign lacked the intensity of the original. I mean how do you go from a guy commiting suicide by firearm or "My eyes have layed upon a thousand galaxies rising and falling like ashes [...]" to "Tassaddar... you... you're alive?? We're not alone, lol" like really... they need to fire Blizzard's story writers.)
9. Street Fighter Alpha 3
10. Bomberman 64 The Second Attack

Honorable Mention: The Legend of Zelda Ocarina Of Time

"I'm not going to fight you. I'm going to kick your ass." -Duke Nukem

"I'm not entitled to the Lord's tender mercy, 'till I drop down on my knee's and say 'Please, put me into your solution and free me of this disease.' " -Rehab (Band)

I'm generally into racing and other vehicle simulation. Damage modeling is always a huge plus for me.
And I'm a huge GTA fan too.

10
Age of Empires II

9
Road Rash
This game was over the top. Beating up a cop with his own bat, kicking other bikers into buildings, flying through the traffic.

8
1nsane
Nice blend of crazy action and offroad-sim.

7
Mechwarrior 2
The graphics style fits so well to the futuristic theme. Sound effects and music take it to another level.

6
Live for Speed
Best multiplayer racing I've ever experienced. I played the demo for over a year before paying for the rest of the game. I'm still play mainly demo servers.

5
Richard Burns Rally
THE rally-sim. Sweaty hands guaranteed.

4
IL-2 Sturmovik
Great damage modeling and physics. I love the eastern front setting.

3
netKar Pro
This is my single player racing game. I enjoy just driving alone on the track as fast as I can.

2
Multi Theft Auto
This mod somehow reminds me of a massive party.
Such creativity and crazyness in my favorite GTA: San Andreas

1
MWLL
No ass-kissing intended. Still #1 since it came out.

Homeworld
Battlezone 2
Battlefield 2142

I have a ton of games I'd consider in my top 10 but there would be 50+ of them over the last 25 years+ of gaming ... here are a few I can remember off hand.

In no describable order.

Powerdroid 90 (would make an excellent XBLA / flash game now imo)
Sensible Soccer (most amazing control ever, for a 4 way joystick and one button)
Deus Ex (best RPG to date, second would probably be System shock)
Captive (if you have never played it or heard about it then you missed a golden game)
Hired Guns (awesome four play co-op game 2x amiga 500 linked together with 2 players each .... awesome awesome fun beyond words)
Quake 2- MP mostly (golden age of FPS for me ...CTF, KOTH, 3WCTF, QCCL, Team fortress, Action quake... need I go on?)
Lotus Esprit (sometimes called Esprit Turbo challenge in odd places :P).
Dark Age of camelot (first and only MMO to achieve decent PVP)
Call of duty 2 (awesome community and clan base)
Call of duty 4 : Modern Warfare (yes I went there, oh yes and I still do, awesome single player story and trend setting be it good or bad multiplayer that is copied over and over even by non-activision flunkies).

MC1
MW2
TF2 <---Before all the hat and all the gay stuff was added, but it isn't such a bad game in it's current state.
Sandy 2500k @ 4.6ghz
GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 V1.0 - Worst Motherboard ever.
2x GTX 580 3gb
8gb DDR3 dual channl 1600mhz
