Leg kills in the mech hanger
« on: July 27, 2011, 03:32:58 AM »
I'm wondering how neccesary getting killed by your own mechs legs in the hanger is,
I see value in this on the field, stomping toads.
But i had a situation last night where i was ranked fifth in a SA game, respawned and got killed by my own mechs legs in the hanger, and wound up with a minus 29 gazillion score.
Couldnt rank up, and spent most of the game playing in an uller.

I'm normally reasonably careful mounting up, but this one little mistake was one i had to pay for for the next 40 mins
You have to understand the code of duty and honor that rules those who pilot these engines of destruction. Placing such an awesome weapon in the hands of an individual implies a similar gesture of trust

It's a known issue with the game, you can also get instagibbed by other various mech parts if you fly too fast into them. Those mech legs are hungry. Safest way to do it in TSA/TC is to stay up on the balcony in the hanger bay then walk/run off of it straight to your cockpit, but the only option right now for other spawn locations is to just be really, really careful. You're also a bit less likely to fall into the legs of most mechs if you hop on from the back.

This happened to me recently, the only death I had the whole match was me getting killed by my scat's legs in the hangar right after I bought it  :-\

Pretty sure that's the only time it's happened to me, and it's all good because I still ended at top of the leaderboard (a rarity) lol

I managed to claw my way from minus 29 zillion to minus 17 zillion, still came last on the leaderboard.
But i was unable to rank up the whole game, still i had lots of practise in an uller    ;D

Ironically, I have never seen Toads get stomped on the field. Sometimes I think the only way of getting killed by mech legs in the first place is by you flying into them with your jetpack, on your own mech.

I stomped one with my Uzi when he was trying to hide under me, and killed a few teamies in the hangar while waiting for an OMN to start, but that's about it

Also, did you know that an Uller has the same legs as a Puma? Either that or it's legs are named wrong.

How are you supposed to get valuable information like this without getting killed by your own 'Mech? See my point? Problem solved. With "solved" meaning "ignored".

I don't remember any incident where a BA has actually been killed by the legs of a 'Mech in any combat-situation. So the only thing this feature seems to be good for is to make players cry on maps like Hels Gate, where it is especially difficult to enter your 'Mech.

All clan and IS lights share the same legs (within their own sides, no Clan IS mixing)

I think this has to do more with the legs being "vehicles" so they can work correctly as walking tanks due to MWLL code magic.

I thought the torsos were the vehicles?

Yeah it's something like vehicles layered on top of a humanoid model + magic or something like that.

Needless to say all that code hoodoo voodoo creates some interesting side effects.

It happens....

This caused my only death on extremity last night where I went 13-1....though I take a lot of the blame, slamming into them due too low grav prob helped....

Cost of doing business, if mechs legs needed a blood sacrifice too keep *crushing* the enemy then who am I to *stand* in their way?

It's mostly magic. And duct tape. :D

Listen to the interview doorknob made for a few details.

Pune is much better than pun's

Oddly I wrote that on the iPhone and it autocorrected substituted "pune" for "pun"
