Shadowcat is too slow
« on: July 30, 2011, 08:59:12 PM »
I notice that the top speed of the Shadowcat is 86km/h...an 11km/h cut from the canon speed of 97. Why the huge cut? A major factor in this mech's survivability is its speed. I compared several other mechs' speeds (MWLL vs canon) and none have received the cut in speed that this mech has.  :(    Speed=armor!

I would guess as to bring it to max speed of another number of mechs...  Not sure the beast needs buffing until we have another clan medium

Wait, somebody thinks that the shadowcat needs a buff?!?!!?

You're crazy, son.  Those things are too mean to need another 11 km/h

MWLL build rules are not quite the same as in CBT, so some mechs add up differently and need changes in order to fit in.

And really, the Shadowcat isn't exactly "lacking". It's still extremely powerful despite less-than-canon speed. Same with the Madcat, which has been reduced to 75kph.

Make it faster! And strip one arm off of every version while you are at it (the higher dps arm please).
I don't like the superiority of the Shadowcat. Never make this 'Mech more dangerous than it already is, unless all the other 'Mechs get at least two more arms and ten tons of weapons.

To quote the MWLL wiki:

The only dull points that blemish the Shadowcat's otherwise excellent capabilities are its limited ammo space and a lack of armor, significantly lower than other medium Mechs.

There are other mechs in the heavy & assault classes that are "I win" machines which haven't been gutted. But due to there scarcity in matches, you don't very often see posts calling them out as OP'd.

Scats and Madcats are just the best examples of Clan primacy in mech design. If you think they're OP'd then give them their canon spec'd speed and make them more expensive. You'll then see less of them. But they'll at least be canon based.

And again, speed=armor.

Oh god please don't make the scat more expensive than it already is.

Then I WILL be forced to use the god awful fapping Bushwacker.

At least leave it alone until we get another clan Medium.

Yes, so the clan mech players can be in light mechs for a longer time... great idea!

What the Shadow Cat lacks in speed, it makes up for with maneuverability.  In spades.

Seriously, that thing turns and accelerates like a madman, well beyond the BT specs.  It isn't lacking anything.

If anything, this only points to the fact that acceleration has nothing to do with maximum speed, which Battletech neatly encapsulated with its turn-based system.  I would propose that the acceleration and turning characteristics of each mech be published so that these factors can be properly accounted.
Thanks for the view.

Shadowcat is not a medium you fools, it is a light mech! Just look at its SSSIIIIZZZEEEE!

You can make it faster if you can make it fatter. That's my rule.
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

Wait for other clan mediums to get into the mix until you judge what role the scat should play.

Yes it is slower than CBT, but in MWLL it is also f*ckin tiny. It is as big as a raven basically when you compare it to the Uzi or even Whacker.

The Uzi is 97kph and it doesn't help THAT much. Size>Speed. A Raven goes about as fast as a Puma, but which one is harder to kill in a pinch?

Also, This.

I want an Uller that maxes out at 175kph!!

The Prime needs the canonical MASC to make it have a reason to take it over the C variant. Otherwise, this thread is a big No by many.

If you give the Shadowcat that boost of speed, it'll go as fast as the Uziel, carry more weaponry than the Hollander, and out-brawl the Bushwacker, all while running Clan cool and having the profile and maneuver characteristics of a Light 'mech at a price that every player will be able to afford at some point during a game? There would be literally no reason to ever take anything else in the Medium category. Maybe the Heavy, too. Please, no. Don't let more perfectly good 'Mechs be even further outshone by the work of wonder that is the Shadowcat*. It doesn't need the help. The beast is good enough, just the way it is.

* With the exception of the Shadowcat E, which is poop-balls. This, of course, is only in comparison to the other Shadowcat variants, all of which are excellent. Compared to anything else, the Shadowcat E is still a Shadowcat, and therefore, superior in every way that matters.
