The thing has a range of 350 meters and is squishy, if you're engaging it 1v1 within that range you deserve to get toasted.

I've had the pleasure of running into one of these the second day I was playing... I was suprised to see a vulture coming in on my newly aquired Warhammer which I was just starting to pilot around and have fun with (ie I didn't shoot anything yet).

As he closed, the volley's started coming in as he chain fired his streaks. Blinded me, knocked me all over the place, and put me out of commission in about 20 seconds.  I had to laugh... live and learn, that's for sure.  I will be a bit more wary when I see a vulture rushing in to brawl.

My first match in the old FC leagues was in a Warhammer Prime against a Vulture B.  What I did was close in to point-blank range, where the Streaks were less effective.  It's pretty much your only option, as a smart Vulture B player will fire a few alpha strikes to soften up particular areas, and then ensure you can never get a decent shot at range until you're dead.

What most people don't know is that the Vulture B does some sick damage with alpha striking, and the homing function is just gravy.

God knows I went straight for the damaged leg when some punk was using a Madcat B to pick at lights and mediums.
Thanks for the view.

Nothing wrong with the MRM cat :D,
It's a really fun mech to use in SA mode, especially when the assaults roll around. When it runs out of missiles this thing is just a slow bag of free points, and it can run out quite fast (roughly 12 volleys per bank if you use your 2 tons for MRM ammo).

I've been caught with my pants down many a time in this, and it's a real mission to get to the repair pad for reloads.

Part of the reason everyone just shoots the first target is that most people can't actually identify the leaders in combat, unless you remember their handles. Maybe if the target display also read out the leaderboard position of the enemy (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd). This would encourage more head hunting.

Most of the prime varients are pretty close to what is listed (at least on sarna) for the prime loadouts in canon. There are some tweaks here and there where something didn't work or was underwhelming, but most are pretty close.

I think you'll like the game though if you give it a chance, this mod is the best thing to happen to Battletech in the past 5 years if you ask me.

Seyla!
..., but this is battletech, and sense is often not made.
