Time capsule
« on: August 06, 2011, 03:15:27 AM »
I have been thinking this over for a week and I would be interested in trying in setting up a tournament for previous patches of this mod.
I had in mind setting up one weekend a server with say, .2 to enjoy how far this game has come and really see the differences in gameplay.
I am sure many still have the patch files and if not then I guess you would be out of luck.

A question I have is whether the devs would be okay with this and if so if we could get a link to possibly download previous patches if they are?

What do you think of this?
Anyone interested in playing a weekend on a previous patch?

I would, but then I joined at early 0.3.2 so I definitely don't have 0.2

Logically how many would have been keeping the previous builds that cannot be used for anything but to be run locally.

I have no developer objections to the playerbase wanting to turn back the clock but your efforts may be fraught with difficulty.

0.2.0 only runs on the original Crysis, not Wars, so your playerbase is going to be rather limited.

You will need someone with a 0.2.0 server since the client and the server have to run the same version.

I do have a 0.2.0 installer laying around in my personal shares, but it's 1.7GB which is no small amount to transfer up to a webhost.  You might have better luck looking for an old 0.2.0 torrent.

If you really want to roll back the clock I would suggest 0.3.0, since it has an installer available from moddb.com but it still is limited to the original Crysis.

If you go back to the very last few pages of the general forums, you can find some mirrors to 0.1, which I grabbed to dick around with a few weeks ago. I have no idea about 0.2 though.

I never expected many to be interested, but thanks for the direction I should look.
Plus Crysis is never a problem. Best game ever next to this mod.

Ha, you don't like UAC20 Loki, try infinite range AC20 in .2.

MK2B quad gumballs of doom in .2 :p for a one-off wallop, the UAC Loki has nothing on the old MK2B. Was so much fun fighting Awesomes with that... gumballs, ssrm, ssrm gumballs, all aimed at the ct. Get a pilot kill cos the shells have splashed so hard the ct is orange, both sides are red and cockpit is a gooey hole :o

Well it was my impression that .2 would be a no go unless we had a dedicated server for it, I'd still be up for it though, started playing around 3.5 (maybe a bit before) so if anything it'll be cool to see the progression.

ah, well i was not expect a fully older version server.  I actually thought you might bring back the old versions of the official maps to be played as "custom" maps.

Thats great Coffin but I also realized we need the server files to to be able to run rotation.
Doubt we will find those files.
