TS3 Overlay
« on: August 07, 2011, 08:30:09 AM »
There seems to be an oddly missing thread/guide on getting this elusive bugger to work.  I've tried a few different options - forcing it to work/load again after a game launch, running MWLL in 64/32 bit, etc.  No dice.

But I have heard of people using their techgod magic and managing to get it to work - some enlightenment would be wonderful in this regard.

dx9 should make it work for you. Put this in your Autoexec.

r_driver="DX9"

Ticking the "Force DX9" button in the launcher will probably do the trick too

Ah! So that is why it never worked for me!
Oh well, once I found TS3 supported my G15's LCD, I didn't bother to figure it out further.
Only problem is lack of a "user list" for the channel I am in, still it pops up who is talking so it's all good.
Also I can change channels etc without leaving the game.  8)

G15 and G19 both have a lcd screen. The g19 screen is in colour. I have owned both and while both are exactly what any gamer would want, the g19 is badly constructed and the screen broke on mine and for the price I paid I was bitterly disapointed. (And then i spilt water all over it which made it worse)

Both keyboards support vent and ts3, and will show you who's talking on the lcd screen. It is the holy grail for anyone having problems with overlays.

I normally force DX9, but I tried it through the autoexec as well - no dice. However, the overlay does work in other games, like EVE and SotS.

It would appear to be a graphical overlay for Teamspeak3 that, in similar fashion to Fraps,  displays the current person speaking in TS3 instead of having to run MWLL in crappy windowed mode.

ah, so this TS3 Overlay is nothing but myth and legend?

Because I have to play in windowed mode or query those that enter the channel and sometimes who is speaking....it gets confusing with accents and such

The TS3 Overlay is an official plugin included with the client.  It is a clone of the 3rd party TS2 Overlay.

It works for most games but not MWLL.  At least not yet, anyway.

exactly, it solves that problem, does the same thing the game does when using in game voice, displays the speakers name when they are speaking, but from TS3

sounds like it might have some of the same dependencies as the MSI Afterburner program which is based off of Rivatuner.  It will do a FPS overlay if I use DX9 mode but if i choose DX10 it wont

fraps works with both dx10 and dx9 =) they all need to go to the school of fraps overly.
