Summoner U
« on: August 12, 2011, 08:05:44 AM »
Why not to do this variant?

Alt. Config. U - This version carries a pair of ER PPCs tied into a Targeting Computer and a single LRT-15. Strangely for a configuration designed to fight underwater, this version is equipped with Jump Jets.

But substitute LRT to some missiles like SRM/ATM/LRM.

Too unimaginative IMO. Besides, we already have Timber E with almost the same loadout.

We lack a fast mech with good alpha-strike with jump in the heavy class. Thor C good but not alpha (spreads damage with lasers)

Hm. Yep, we lack jump-capable mech with good alpha, good speed.

I believe, this can be seriously upgraded since there is no Targeting Computer in MWLL, no need for underwater adaptation... and most stock Thor variants got upgraded.

I would like to see something like 2*CERPPC+2*CERMBL+ATM12 (9, if that won't fit)+JJ+1 free ton+EOptics+most DHS we can get. Never counted tonnage, but it should fit with minor changes.

Its too overweight/Imba. We dont need so powerful mech. But what we need 2*CERPPC+LRM15+Jumps+sufficient number of heatsinks.
Because in the heavy class there are no fast mechs with good alpha with jumping. Nova E too slow and more like assault.

No need to get involved in the release of these specialized configurations.
I prefer a more reliable configuration of the type: Mad Cat prime, Atlas Prime, etc.

I do not agree on this matter with you guys. So sorry ...

If it did fit, it'd be expensive, i can assure you of that.

combining PPCs and LRMs shouldn't usually be encouraged anyway since they knock off friendly narcs

The Loki Prime carries two ERPPC and 3 ER MBL and can barely keep up with the heat load plus costs 120k.

It also has BAP, GECM, Eoptics, LAMS and C3, it's a superRaven, of course it isn't cheap.

Dare dishonor the manliness of the Summoner by making it a simple poptarder? Never.

Slap a couple ERPPC on a Scat and be done with it.

Not to steal the topic of the 'U,' but as long as we're talking Summoner variants I am really liking the looks of the G: 1 ERLL, 1 ERPPC, 6 SRM-4, 1 HSL

"Most discipline is hidden discipline, designed not to liberate but to limit. Do not ask 'Why.' Be cautious with 'How.' 'Why' leads inexorably to paradox. 'How' traps you in a universe of cause and effect. Both deny the infinite."

I like to use this variant, because it is a great support mech. But it has heat problems, true.
