LBX Partyvan fan thread
« on: August 15, 2011, 07:26:55 PM »
The other day I decided to try the Partyvan with 4x LBX5. And I have to say it was fun to play.
Especially with all four LBX in chain fire, I had the feeling of firing one of those WW2 AA guns with slow firing big guns.
And it seems to have the neccessary punch to even hurt light mechs.

Nice asset!

Interesting O.o
Never got the hang of the LB-X Version, i prefer the AC5 one myself . .
But yes, technically, it has the Fire-Power of an LB-X20 over more reach and with faster firing . .

Nope, does less than 1/4 of a Lbx20 per shot of an Lbx5.

But it has a faster rate of fire at least.  Chain firing them is really fun, it has a good feel when you do this.

Dps over time is pretty close, and the ammo boost it got was sorely needed.

It's an excellent psychological warfare unit. The impacts feel very powerful to the victim unlike UAC2 hits, even though they aren't, forcing them to move. It's also great at killing BAs due to the slight amount of spread, and it carries enough ammo that you pretty much won't ever run out before the tank has served its purpose (unlike the UAC2 variants).

If you're lucky, a target will ignore you long enough for you to blast their arm off, too.

LBX5 has negligibly less DPS than an LBX10, but further range and less spread.

LBX Partyvan has one obvious downside fior me: It crashes a lot more...
I will continue testing if possible.

It's a fun variant, especially with the ROF boost in the last patch.

If we ever see ERLBL on a Partisan or Huit, U/LBX/AC2s and 5s will go to the wayside.

I would love a dual LBX10 Partisan. But it would actually be OP as it'd be the best AA vehicle and could defend itself. The Huit version is already pretty nasty though it doesn't have the staying power of a Partisan to threaten mechs within 300m.

Personally haven't gotten the hang of the quad LBX5 parti yet. I can do some good damage and rank up with the quad UAC2 one a little more consistently. I've had some good turn outs with the LBX5 but its hit or miss (no pun intended).

Hehe, oh the things i've done with the LBX5, the things i've done, lots of stories I could tell, gooooood times.  8)

I think its one of those assets that can really exceed its expectations when mastered, and of everything I can select with the starters cash, i'll always come out earning the most with that, usually ending up being able to jump straight from it into the Heavy class mechs.

If we ever see ERLBL on a Partisan or Huit, U/LBX/AC2s and 5s will go to the wayside.

IIRC the Dev-fluff is that the Partisan is the only vehicle at the moment with an ICE engine and so is limited to ballistics and missiles only (so no laser Partisan ever in MWLL).

I would love a dual LBX10 Partisan. But it would actually be OP as it'd be the best AA vehicle and could defend itself. The Huit version is already pretty nasty though it doesn't have the staying power of a Partisan to threaten mechs within 300m.

Saddest thing is that with the new costings I never see the RAC Partisan used ever and the Prime is almost as rare (I've seen it a few times, mostly folks getting 4K at start for AA work).   Seriously why buy a RAC Partisan ever, when there's an LB-10&LB-20X Oro at the same rank with the same effective range?

RAC2s could still use a little more love (ie. removal of the bullet spread would enable it to be effective beyond 500m), this would make it a harder choice between Oro or Partisan at 55K.

For sure the RAC Partisan is OP at 49k, but the Prime? IIRC the Owens C vs. Partisan Prime battles of old were evenly matched, fast and a lot of fun...but now the only Partisan choices at start are the anemic UAC2s, or UAC2s with Light Gauss (meh, why not a twin Light Gauss/Mgun Partisan at rank 2?) and the LB-X Partisan (I've never warmed to it, even in this much improved incarnation), so I'd love to see the Prime back at 49k...It was always my favourite starter vehicle and gave the Owens Cs something to be wary of.

If its mostly lights on the field, the RAC2 partisan has a much easier time with them than the LBX20/10 Oro, in my opinion at least.

RAC2s SHRED lights. The only problem is ammo shortages, really.

Not to mention if an ASF so much as comes within 500m of you it dies instantly to the hail of bullet spam.

RAC2s are actually pretty awesome when they're mounted in quads like that.
