linkinfrost, i'm disappointed, that's a Warhawk (Masakari) so so far from a Direwolf/Daishi

I don't see a kodiak in that gallery... or a lot of the other stuff!

I still don't understand the want for a Masakari. Its going to be a slower, more expensive Novacat. With the same arming weakness as the Novacat.

Kodiak would be interesting as an Assault mech however as it has a varied weapons platform and spread out to boot.

It wouldn't be any slower. The Warhawk still moves at 64kph, and it will likely be more heavily armored. Granted, the prime will undoubtedly feel little different from the current Novacat C, but I'm curious as to what the devs will do with the other variants.

The Masakari "should" have approximately 20% more armor (and internal) damage capacity over the Nova Cat.

The canon Masakari has 8.5 tons of internal structure + 13.5 tons of Clan Ferro-Fibrous armor (16.2 tons equivalent) giving it a total of 24.7 tons of damage capacity
The canon Novacat has 7 tons of internal structure + 13.5 tons of standard armor giving it a total of 20.5 tons of damage capacity.

Masakari has the same speed as the Novacat at 64kph, however, as seen with the Madcat, the devs could decide to dump its engine down from the 340 XL to a 300 XL, dropping its speed to ~58kph and freeing up ~5 tons. Though, that would mean the engine could hold 1 less double heat sink. Not a bad exchange considering the extra tonnage could be used to mount a.) heavier ballistic weapons which run cooler, or b.) more double heat sinks or special equipment assuming it isn't a gross deflection from the space consideration of CBT.

Such a mech would look something like this.

Masakari Chassis 85 tons
Internal Structure = 8.5 tons
300 XL Engine = 9.5 tons
Gyroscope = 3 tons
Cockpit = 3 tons
Armor = 13.5 tons (FF)
Remaining Tonnage = 47.5 tons

Prime
2 CERPPCs - RA = 7(14) tons
2 CERPPCs - LA = 7(14) tons
1 CLRM10 - LT = 3.5 tons (1 ton of ammunition included)
15 Double Heat Sinks = 15 tons
EOptics = 1 tons???

A
1 CERLBL - RA = 4 tons
1 CLB10X - RA = 11 tons (1 ton of ammunition included)
1 CERLBL - LA = 4 tons
1 CLB10X - LA = 11 tons (1 ton of ammunition included)
1 CLRM15 - LT = 4.5 tons (1 ton of ammunition included)
1 CSSRM6 - RT = 4 tons (1 ton of ammunition included)
4 Free Tons
5 Double Heat Sinks = 5 tons

B
1 CGauss Rifle - RA = 13 tons (1 ton of ammunition included)
2 CHLL - LA = 4( 8 ) tons
1 ATM9 - RT = 6 tons (1 ton of ammunition included)
1 NARC - LT = 3 tons (1 ton of ammunition included)
4 Free Tons
LAMS = 1.5 tons
12 Double Heat Sinks = 12 tons

C
1 CUAC20 - RA = 13 tons (1 ton of ammunition included)
2 CLPL - LA = 6 (12) tons
1 DSSRM6 - LT = 7 tons (1 ton of ammunition included)
4 Free Tons
LAMS = 1.5 tons
GECM = 1 tons
9 Double Heat Sinks = 9 tons

I think that the Masakari would be less boaty than the novacat, offering a more mixed weapon loadout. Like PPCs mixed with pulse lasers or something. Kodiak will probably pretty much be the Clan Atlas.

I figured the Kodiak would be the Clan Atlas, since they're similar in role.

Maskari > Novacat....Cause it looks better. Maskari was my favioute mech in mercs, some of the most fun I've ever had was using that mech. I wouldn't say it's a nova clone, but just a bigger better armoured Puma :D

Pretty much agree with this.

Masakari was the first mech I fell in love with while playing MW4 Vengeance LAN games back in the day. Have always liked it since.

Hell, the thing can take on Daishi's if piloted correctly.

I can not for the life of me understand how anyone could prefer the name "Masakari" before "Warhawk".

Don't be too hard on the spheroids - after all, they're only freebirths.
