metro,

I have reviewed the schedule for PAX, coming up in a couple of weeks. While there is no explicit mention of Piranha Games and a mechwarrior project, there are a couple of meetings where a teaser could be released. So let us just wait and see.

I don't  think there will be any news until next year.  Generally the marketing cycles for games start between 3 and 6 months before release.  August would be too late in the cycle for a Xmas release, unless they were planning to dump it out without any fanfare.  Which would be very odd.

Well, nice thing about Mechwarrior like games:
fapp censorship and pegi and the like . .
We have big fapping cannons on bigger fapping robots . .
We can have all the violence we want and no blood anywhere!
Well, maybe cursing and cutscenes . .
'any kind of discussion of randomness ALWAYS WILL EQUATE to being able to critically hit a mech's reactor by firing a micro beam laser while facing 80 degrees to the side, shooting the ground, which would cause a random explosion which would randomly crit his entire team's reactors which would randomly cause the server itself to explode which would randomly generate a strange quark which would randomly hit the earth and randomly randomness randomfapp the shit fapp random!'

Hey SquareSphere,
3 to 6 months is really veryveryvery short for a marketing-team to promote a game. Don't forget: Neither on the E3 nor on the Gamesconvention was a presentation of the game. I have some experience and insight in the business (I worked for several newspapers and EA). And trust me: A gamestudio like Piranha would not make such a misstake.
You start with
- hints, videos, pictures and rumors you spread in the internet (check)
- exclusive stories about the ongoing work ( )
- first exclusive pictures ( )
- presentations on several occasions ( )
- crossmedia commercials ( )
- articles ( )
- events ( )
- prerelease ( )
- pressrelease ( )
- official release ( )
- ...

from "behind the scenes" to "official release" it can easily take 12 to 36 months (and we all know, how fast Piranha works - see: Duke Nukem Forever  ;D (I pray they will be faster this time))

AFAIR they only worked on a part of that game (multiplayer, console ports) and it was released in less than a year after they were contracted.

Will it compare to MWLL? The more and more I think about it.. the less I think it can stand up to this mod (and thus a disappointment).

We don't need another MechCommander 2 (while wasn't a bad game, was no MC1).

I think most of us are looking forward to the single player with mech lab.  Multiplayer... well they've already said they're "updating it" to be in line with current multiplayer "standards"

Heh, that should give a few people warm fuzzies they've well earned.

I said it before and I say it again: MWLL ist the best Mechwarrior-/Mecha-Game I ever played (and I played them all). And: It ist still a beta.
Probably I'm not objective here. But who on this forum is?
 ;D
But the fact, that the Devs are looking for a Public Relations Manager indicates, that we are getting closer to the finish-line.

If they released an absoutely perfect game some players (probably many, actually) would still claim MWLL was better and refuse to switch.  It's like that with every series with a large community base and actually does more harm than good to the franchise.

The original creator of Battletech is spending ALOT of time and money making MW5 and even releasing anything at all is a monumental act of faith in the community.  If MW5 fails, or is driven to failure by part of the "community", there will be no MW6.  The videogame aspect of the franchise will simply disappear and a couple years after that so will MWLL.  Game engine stagnation is a terrible way to go, just ask any 7+ year MW4 player.

Kill 15 mechs in a streak, get an orbital bombardment.
