The more I fight Vulture Bs, the more I learn how to fight them, the easier they are to beat.  I thought it was a bit OP at first, but after many 1v1 battles in similarly priced assets and after piloting the Vulture B myself I find that it isn't a problem.  I'm much more cautious of a well piloted Thor A or Thanny D than the Vulture B.

People say it's easy to use and that is the problem.  But the flip side of that argument is that it has a skill cap.  It doesn't matter how good of a pilot you are, the VB only has so much potential because the weapons aim themselves.  It doesn't matter if you are good enough to consistently shred the same component of a 'mech, because that skill pretty much goes to waste when all you have to do is chain fire SSRMs.

An SRM Vulture on the other hand...  ;)

Team up and take the beast down. I dont ever engage a VB alone if I don't have to (or dont care). In SA, more times than not I see everyone team up to kill the VBs. I ignore whatever else is shooting me and fire on the VB and my opponents usually follow suit because they don't want to have to deal with it by themselves later.

I think it needs to be replaced with the Mad Dog/Vulture B from CBT canon.

2 ER Large Laser, 1 LRM 20, 2 SSRM 6, and 3 Medium Pulse lasers.
I agree, there are quite a few very cheesy variants that have to be banished!
This is exactly the wrong kind of mentality when dealing with OP or just fapping annoying variants like the Vulture B, Shiva E, MKII B, etc.

When Mechlab comes, these variants WILL return when players build them.

Best for as many game-breaking variants to made by the devs during the beta so the devs can identify what is broken and what is useless; as it is, so many of the variants have schizophrenic loadouts where it's hard to identify exactly what on the chassis needs to be improved, or if the chassis itself just plain sucks. The Bushwacker Prime is a perfect example of this; it's designed to be balanced, but in the end it's a laughable joke that's less dangerous than an Osiris Prime because all of its combined weapons suck. This hits a lot of the Thor variants as well, as they have so different weapon systems that they never fit into one particular role, and they're pretty mediocre as a jack-of-all-trades mech.

I really just have two things to say:

First, the SRM Vulture is really the only Vulture variant that's worth a damn. The chassis just sucks. It's not very fast, it's expensive, it has WTF-huge side torsos with almost no armor on them. The loadouts its provided are crap. Sure, it's a 'fire support mech', but so is the Catapult, that didn't stop us from getting versions with MRMs and PPCs. And the Catapult has a fappload of armor on it too.

Look at the Vulture variants - I get to pick from three different kinds of long-range harassers (one of which is a missile boat) that are useless in a close-in fight, I get the Prime which the devs so completely fapped it's borderline unusable, and two kinds of infighting brawlers. The E has a nice mix of weapons but they don't deal very good burst damage, meaning it's going to stay in a fight for longer than it should, given the fact that it's a Vulture and will explode and die if you shoot back at it. That leaves the B, which is the only one which has infighting burst damage coupled with the advantage of a 'shield' of sorts from the screen shake and particle effects.

Secondly, saying something should be banned because your POS computer can't deal with it is retarded. Upgrade or shut up.

It's not very fast
^what  :o  85 km/h for a heavy mech isn't fast enough?

Its high speed coupled with the 360 twist is what lets the long range variants keep brawlers from ever closing to short range.

The fact that I don't have a pos computer and it still wrecks my fps is whats wrong.
Certain particle effects that were added this patch like srm impacts as well as small caliber ac rounds impacting my cockpit cause a seizure upon my computer.
I experienced generally lower performance this patch compared to .4.
If devs are going to implement new particle effects, there should be a client side option to disable them and replace them with an equally obscuring effect without the ridiculous tax on the system.
I don't have an issue with the variant but I do with the performance cost to my system.
It is a borderline exploit to crash someones computer when fighting them.
Srm particle effects last patch never effected my computer as much as this patch.
If a computer can run this game just fine and along comes one unoptimized or whatever is wrong with srm particle effects, and nuke my fps, that is not my problem.
The devs will know that there are issues that need to be rectified whenever they have time.
But to tell someone to f**k off because of one component of the mod is by far the most ignorant comment ever.
Just because others don't experience it, does it gives you the right to blow someone else off.

Frostiken, I know of some pretty inflammatory posts you have made regarding your personal opinion.

I believe the devs are aware of the performance issues that people have been reporting since the .5 patch that were not present in .4.

That being said, this is a beta and the devs have every right to add, remove, or change any feature they want without offering the option to disable said feature, despite the performance impact it may have.  We are testers not customers, and sometimes certain aspects of the game will suck as the game develops.  Think of them as growing pains.

I specifically stated in my post, the ability to replace with an obscuring effect without the performance cost.
Not completely disable.
I know that the devs are aware of the issue.
That is also why I said when they have the time.

Removing an asset just because it is viewed as OP or poorly performing does not make any sense.  We are aware of the performance issues and are working to correct them.  Our turnaround for these fixes may not be the same as we have been able to achieve before, but we are working on them.

You know this thread is really firing me up !!! As soon as I have enough C-bills in a game, I will buy and pilot a MadDog B. So go ahead, gang up on me.

I do find it interesting that the assets that boat the best weapons suited to that particular chassis are the ones that are complained about the most.

And congrats frostiken, saw that coming a few hours ago.

Fixt.  Better to say that assets are boated because the developers think those are the weapons most suited to them.
Thanks for the view.
