I know my shit when it comes to hardware, I just couldn't see that the dimm wasn't seated right.

Also people who know how to use a hand tool should also be able to read a manual.

Since I am sending back my motherboard to make sure it's not damaged by a fualty CPU, I thought I would post what Gigabyte sent me. I'm sure it's the same for all motherboard manufacturers.

I once shorted my power supply and motherboard before by pulling out the side-lid so far  that it pulled out the live wire on a side fan. I turned the computer on and saw a big spark and poof everything went. This is why I never buy cheap power supplies anymore as well, but this was about 9 years ago and modern power supplies have better protection.
