If you play it in 64bit. ;)
That's interesting to know. I've run in 64 bit exclusively, so I never ran into that myself. Crysis thing, Steam thing or OS thing?
If you get killed, try to scream a lot. That way I'll know I'm on my own.

A Note:
There's a difference between constructive feedback and positive feedback. I will attempt the former, but until and unless there is a rule instituted that requires all feedback to be positive, I'm under no obligation to be nice. If you do something that sucks, I will tell you it sucks, and why, and mincing words or stroking egos over it only slows us both down.

Steam thing. The 64bit executable is not tied to Steam in any way. That unfortunately means you can't launch Wars in 64bit from Steam at all, but it does fortunately allow the 64bit to run without Steam running.

Indeed. You only should start the 32-bit version once, otherwise the Steam install script, which puts the CD-key into the registry, is never executed.

And I still ran into the key issue with 0.5.0.

As much as I hate anything EA does on general principle, I'm beginning to understand their decision regarding Steam.

as far as I know their cd-key scheme originated with EA, steam only inherited it.  EA ditched steam because of the competition.

What he said

Steam is the shizzle, Origin... not so much

Oh, I agree, and the whole Origin debacle (and the fact that I buy all my games on Steam anyway) just gave me one more reason to not give EA any of my money.

The sad thing is that BF3 definitely deserves my money (it's for sure better than that $60 expansion pack they call ModWar 3) Origin just manages to cancel that out, and then some

Don't really care about Origin. Have already dealt with EA's shitty download service before when I bought 2142 over EA link awhile back. Didn't stop me from playing and loving 2142.

So is this used in any leagues yet?  i.e. NBT, ADL, GC etc?

As far as I know there is a stalled attempt at an NBT league, and MWBU is currently hosting a duelling ladder with aims towards a planetary, and the communith planetary league alpha should be starting soon(tm)

We have a few leagues in the works.  World of Battletech got back to me and are apparently still on the board, you have NBT as a possible, MWBU which is MWLL based league is in the works, the local MWLL community has a league in the works they meet every saturday and are near to a alpha, the Khan of the MW4 ADL Clan Ghost Bear, who is one of the main developers of ADL has thoughts of possible MWLL now that he has tried it again from a year hiatus being on deployment... So we have no real league yet... but we have many that by years end will sprout something.  But welcome to a beta, game is not even close to complettion, so. :D

I have a Q9550s, 8GB ram and 4870x2's and I run smoothly most of the time. The game has come a long way and runs smoother now than when I first played the first iteration of it! You should give it a shot again, anyone here will be willing to help you with any issues you might have once you get it going. I just got a few of my friends to join us so our numbers seem to getting a little larger and I have seen more people on!
