Nexus: The Jupiter Incident Sequel Announced
« on: September 12, 2011, 01:54:14 PM »
Nexus: The Jupiter Incident was one of my all time favourite games and it seems that other people have found it excellent too so that even though the original developer went bust, a sequel finally looks to be being made.

Please support the sequel from here and make sure it happens! http://www.games-plant.com/nexus2/

Quote
Hungarian game developer Most Wanted Entertainment have announced plans for a self-developed sequel to their highly-rated space RTS Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, with the company partnering dedicated crowdfunding site GamesPlant to supplement their own financing.
"Launched in 2004, the game was highly acclaimed as one of the best spaceship battle games ever made, and continues to attract fans even to this day."

“We re-launched the original Nexus on Steam a while ago, and even now we see a substantial amount of new players buying the game each month”, said Horneman. “We have a very vocal fan base, and know that there’s a large number of people out there who would love to see a sequel made”.
Start with a few small research vessels with no shields and pea-shooters for weapons and work your way up to a small fleet of cruisers and battleships with increasingly powerful weapons.  Lavish graphics (especially for 2004) and decent sound effects are a major part of the appeal of this game too.  There's no resource collecting like in Homeworld, instead there's a certain amount you can spend on loadouts at the beginning of a mission which may or may not make it more appealing to you than Homeworld.

N.B. If you've never played it before, watching gameplay on YouTube probably won't sell it to you: I was going to include a link but couldn't find one worthy enough.

I liked Nexus and would love to see a sequel, but a goal of 400.000€ seems a bit high for just 148 days remaining...
I'm not sure their fanbase is large enough to get funded. :-\

This is one of my favorite single player PC game ever! For the sequel, only a tech demo existed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PC4y2T0-skM&hd=1

Crap, I didn't see the 148 days to go, that's the second time I've been brought up on attention-to-detail in 10 posts  :-[

Might give a bronze donation just for the hell of it.

Great minds Spooky; there's a sound effect on that video at 3.31 that sounds suspiciously like a PPC firing!!!

Haha, that's true :).

Yeah, it's a bit sad, that after a month, they only achieved 6%... But since I only hear about it now, it seems there was almost no media coverage at all.

Yes, I only found out as I was a bit bored at work (I'm leaving next week so don't have that much to do).

I've donated a silver - you don't get charged if it doesn't work out so there's no risk.

Get involved people!

The youtube rip of the concept video doesn't do it justice.  I still have a copy of the original tech demo and it's beautiful even by today's standards.

Will donate as soon as i get paid. The original nexus is the ONLY spaceship v spaceship tactical game, for me at least despite me being totally shit at it.

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?

You do realize they'll only charge you if the goal is met? ;)

Oh and Quarkspace, maybe you should add a link directly to the Gamesplant page (http://www.games-plant.com/nexus2/) in the first post.

Yeh i realise, but they cant charge me if i have 0 pennies in the bank now can they?

That would be embarassing.

Is their anyway we can get this posted on Kotaku and other gaming sites.
It seems woefully under reported.
