YO!! Where my Brawlers at? :P
« on: September 30, 2011, 11:40:09 AM »
So, who here thinks that fighting a loosing battle with Osis and LRMs is effective?  Please exit stage right. ???

Anyways, this is something that pains me to see.  If you out gunned at range, trying to play the same game will not win you the battle or the war.

Please, pretty please, grab something with big close range boom boom and join me, or anyone with sense, and just charge those sniping wussaCats, Arrowpults, and Huits.  YOU CAN WIN THAT WAY.

Taking potshots, and landing the occasional LRM salvo will not.  If you don't have the money to field what the enemy that is most likely stomping you, do something about it.  You would be surprised at the dough you can make in just a Bushy B, and if you had two more with you, well, just do it, and be prepared to be pleasantly surprised.

So, in summary; don't be afraid to get shot, don't let them stomp you, work together, and, most importantly, bring the fight to them.  You can't do that in an PPC Osiris, you will get owned ever time.

Much loves, Alfa :-*

have fun out there kids...

I suck!! But WE are AWESOME.  We started a unit.  What's that?!  YOU WANNA TOUCH MY UNIT?!! :P ^^12thVR Recruitment Page(clickthepic) ;)

I hate it when people on my team take the Osiris.
I love it when people on the enemy team take the Osiris.

Tbh, there isn't much wrong with the PPC Osiris, if you know what your doing.

Well, most people don't!

I liked those PPC Osiri that run straight at my Bushy E. *AC20 to the face*
Its funny at first, but when they do not learn a thing after that happens 3 times I start to wonder whats wrong with them.

Brains, brains, brains...

Fighting long range war on a SCat C against NovaCats is a working way to win. It's also easy to take out LRM boats. It is possible to win by "playing the same game". But it would require less fails from team-mates.

P.S. Can anyone explain, HOW do people choose that PPC Osiris against other assets and then go in close? 700 m range means nothing to them? How do people choose the weakest assets and use them in the worst possible way?
P.P.S. Why do people play LRM boats so much? I have tried, but it is so boooring. Only go in ELRMs when i want some rest. how can they do it all day long?

This is something that confuses me to no end.

I always thought that we play games as a form of entertainment. Sometimes games get artsy, sometime there's an epic story to tell, sometimes games inspire emotions in the player, sometimes you have to think a lot about what you do, other times it's rather simple. But no matter what type of game it is, the number one reason we play it is entertainment.

So again: Why are there people LRM boating for 60 Minutes or more? How can they possibly get any form of entertainment out of this?
We will probably never know.

Ohhhhhhhh, where to begin...

I enjoy watching people running around like chickens with their heads cut off when I'm raining ELRMs down on their head from the Inner Sphere plateau on Palisades.  :D

Its the standard problem with TSA: Get a team of brawlers together, stomp their LRM boats and Gauss snipers. They respawn, you're badly damaged so you run away or fight to the death. And you're back to where you started.

Every TSA map should be converted to capture the flag.  ;)

Its the standard problem with TSA: Get a team of brawlers together, stomp their LRM boats and Gauss snipers. They respawn, you escape under protection of your own LRM campers, repair and repeat the process

Fixed ^^

:'( Ugh, on XI you're lucky if there are three or four people per team who're even vaguely competent. Only thing the other eight/nine players know, is how to die.

It's especially frustrating at the start when they take Osirii, ELRM Owenses and vtols leaving only one or two mechs to draw fire.  >:(
Disclaimer: The ELRM/BHP/C3 Owens is a great late game TSA starter asset, it's only awful at the start of a match and the PPC Osiris is perfectly capable when in good hands.

Also, find the Bushy B makes a poor raider in TSA. It's got enough firepower, but ALWAYS runs out of LBX20 during the second engagement, leaving one with a slow Owens B. IMO It'd be far more dangerous if they swapped the two SPulses for SXPulses and exchanged the LAMS for a spare ton and a third SXPulse fitted in the center mount. More dakka and twice the staying power for approximately the same price. It'd be a mini Thanny-D, just with two SSRM6s and three SXPulses instead of a DSRM6 and three MPulses.

Bushy B is definitely not great for extended engagements.  BUT it's a great learning tool for new players to get in the habit for RTB after a sortie.  Keeps them alive and not feeding points to the enemy.

The PPC Osiris is my new game mech of choice, but it takes awhile to get used to shooting and leading shots at extreme ranges while passive.  Certainly isn't a brawler.

Now the Bushy D on the other hand, it may take awhile to kill somebody with it, but that thing is just IN YOUR FACE brutal.  I never used it until Bobby gave me some miserable experiences in it while I was in a Mad Cat.

It's got a continuous display of power, which makes an enemy think they're getting destroyed while in reality the X-pulse lasers just slowly chip away at them.  Most of my kills with it are because the enemy starts running away and/or lets me do enough damage.

Best use of the Bushy D?
Push forward through no man's land, and engage 3-4 baddies at once.  The Bushy D has enough armor to withstand multiple attacks on it, and by the time you get killed, chances are you put enough damage on the enemy so they will be disoriented and confused and/or heading for a repair, which allows your teammates to advance to new ground.

I use an Osiris Prime constantly and do well with it.
I also start the round with harassers and do well much of the time.
Sniper mechs are fine as long as you gain ground.

But really, I don't know why people don't try new things...
I even hear vets say that they never tried something or other till they got their ass kicked with it.
Really? I omnomnomed all the new variants the week they were released.
It doesn't help that some of the hardest to use assets (Osiris, Harasser, Owens Prime, LBX Partisan) are in the starting ranks.
I can only guess that people's fps are so poor that they can do nothing else.

Is there anyone here that used to be a pub zombie and got out? Maybe they could enlighten us.
