Copy installation?
« on: October 01, 2011, 09:04:48 AM »
I was just wondering - before I download the new 5.1 version - is it possible to copy your installation of mwll to another computer after it has been installed on your own?

EG: install mwll, then copy the 'Mods' folder to a friends PC - Or what other folders need to be copied.

Also a few facts I need: 1) How big is the downloaded file (How much of my cap would it use).
                                   2) Do you NEED gamespy if you only intend on lanning - no internet.

Sorry if these questions seem stupid, I have a very limited cap on my isp (5gb)- So I'll only download this if I can get my friends to play too.
Otherwise I'll just stick to the older versions.

A straight file copy works
As for gamespy for lan, as far as I've heard, you might have to connect to gamespy then go back to lan game. A net connection is required for gamespy validation as far as I'm aware.

Thank you!

Gamespy is a minor inconvenience, but There is no way I could have downloaded the same file 6 times on my Cap alone.

You have no idea how much help that is.

Thanks again.

Even if a direct filecopy doesn't work (for whatever reason) the downloader leaves the downloaded files on your pc, so you can copy those over then run the installer on the other computers which will install straight away. Same goes with 051.

Ah, no.

I just realised that in order for that to happen you need to check 'Preserve downloaded files for seeding' in the settings tab of the updater.

Already updated, and didn't select it - so I don't have the files.

As Xarg said, a direct copy of the mwll folder is enough anyway.
The issue of lan games not working properly without first connecting to gamespy should be already fixed.

O.K - I installed it and ran it but I cannot create a game at all - The option to 'CREATE GAME' Doesn't even exist.

IE: No button!

Internet comes up with some code message - I presume this is for gamespy, don't really care about the internet part though. (At least until I can get uncapped).

Any help?

Use the "dedicated server" section in the launcher to start a game.
The "create game" feature might be back later when we have time to support it.

"Code" message sounds like you haven't run in plain Wars yet or not entered your CD key there.

Don't remember ever bieng asked for a CD key, although I have yet to use the internet option so that could be it.

I have hosted a game in local area network with crysis wars plenty of times before however.

Thanks for the 'Dedicated server' suggestion though.

Should you find yourself needing to enter a cd key, quit the game, load CRYSIS WARS, not MWLL, and go to internet game, then join a server with Punkbuster enabled (should be a little blue ball thing in the columns beside the server name), this will prompt you to enter your key. If you can enter the key and successfully join the server, your key checked out and you shouldnt ever get a key issue again (barring a registry error via steam or something, but that goes outside the scope of this post and has been explained in a sticky somewhere)

That's more an issue with Crysis than MWLL.

Thanks - Final question.

Is it possible to join the game that is bieng hosted on your PC as a dedicated server?
Or can only other computers join?

If I can - HOW?

EDIT: Oh, and WTH? does "Unkown command: ; the blame is all on Seraph!!!!" mean? Should I just ignore it?

It's not ideal but you can with most games.

Just start the dedicated server console and then launch MWLL and join it.
